Lepres
Been flying at NZSI and love it. However, I notice many areas the surrounding mountains seem quite bare and empty of trees, even for Spring, Summer, Autumn seasons. Just flew in the area around NZGY and whatever the season, most mountains appear rather bare. Yes this the way it is in real world? Google map doesn't show that way. Mountains show up mostly covered in green. I have most settings maxed out, including autogen. Anyone notices this? Thanks.
Tim Harris
Hi there, Are you able to post a screenshot? you can upload a picture here: http://fsfiles.org/flightsimshotsv2/
Lepres
Hi Tim, Pic uploaded as requested. http://fsfiles.org/flightsimshotsv2/zO This was taken in Summer. Seems quite many other NZ locations show mountains like that, though there were others that look fine. Thanks.
Misha Cajic
Yep, looks right. You can see in the distance some forested areas, but the bare areas are areas of rock and dirt. So what you are seeing looks right
Lepres
But this was Summer. Aren't the mountains supposed to be covered with trees? On Google map one can see photos posted of that area and others that show the mountains to be thickly covered with. Or do the trees only grow in other season? Had tried Spring/Fall and the results were the same.
Misha Cajic
With autogen trees it doesn't make a difference. Weather it is summer, spring, winter or fall, autogen trees will always appear in the same place because that is where it was placed during development. I don't think that it is possible to create seasonal autogen placement.
Ian Routley
For comparison, here is a similar view in Google Earth (as best as I can muster quickly) Which bits need trees, compared to the FSX screenshot above? My observation ... they look pretty damn close to each other !!
Lepres
I don't know one should call it trees or shrubs or bush or something, but i wonder those green patches on google map mean anything. Algae as seen fr a distance maybe?
Ian Routley
Algae as seen fr a distance maybe?or grass, even. SAMPLE AREA Less aquatic. remembering of course that not every bush can be modelled into a landscape.
Lepres
Interesting ... I also have the PFJ and mountains simulated there seem better "endowed" with greenery than in NZSI. Probably more grassy there.
Scaber
The mountains/hills around that area are mostly bare of forest - looks like what I would expect from my observations driving around the other side of those hills. Well modelled in my opinion.
