joemills
Wolter suggested on another post to download and install DX9 for users of Win7 64bit which comes with DX11. I have downloaded DX9 a number of times and tried to install it but I get dialogue which tells me I already have an updated version. I thought DX could not be uninstalled, am I wrong here? Cheers for now, Joe.
Holger Sandmann
Hi Joe, actually, as far as I know DX11 includes both DX10 and DX9c; for example see http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/185-63-directx-installing-directx11-problem-win7 though there does seem to be some confusion as to whether the DX9 variant included with W7 is the latest: http://www.windows7taskforce.com/view/3605 Cheers, Holger
joemills
Thanks for that information Holger, it looks as though I need not let it bother me, FSX is running very well on my machine, my tendency is to be a bit if a fusspot at times. Cheers, Joe
Heiko Glatthorn
Indeed, the DirectX update includes all necessary latest versions - if the installer tells that you are up to date you are fine.
TracyQ
This has been bugging (haha, pun INTENDED) me, also. When I restart my laptop (Win7, 64 bit), I get a message saying that "DirectX 9" failed to initialize. Are you saying to just click through this warning, and ignore? (This is what I have been doing, and everything seems to run fine, including FSX.)
