This is a very scenic flight. Click on the following link to view a selection of shots taken during the journey.

Remember, there will be no ATC so it will be a simple flight direct to Queenstown. Why not join in. This will be the second last event in the Tassie Tigers series.

Are the Tassie Tigers legs omly for byplanes or can anyone come along?

buggerup

This doesn't dirctly answer your question Buggerup, but may help if you want to fly in Tiger today.

Snipped from an earlier post:

For those new to the Tigers events, there's an excellent freeware Tigermoth by Warwick Carter. It's available at:

check out: http://www.gjsmith.net/Textures/tigermoth.htm

Example of a Warwick Carter Tigermoth and Paint:

There are heaps of different liveries for it and even some float and skiplane variants..

Even if you don't fly in it, it's good to use to "paint'' the other flyer's aeroplanes (which you can do easily using FSinn)

The real alternative is the payware JustFlight Tigermoth which is really a beautiful model.

You can get it at http://flightsimstore.com/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=20&products_id=187

Here's an earlier Tassie Tigers Leg thread with some screenshots: http://orbxsystems.com/forums/index.php?topic=3554.0

Thanks again Paul for organising a great event.

A computer meltown cost me my Friday night flight but Sundays flight just completed and brilliant fun.

In addition to the Tigermoths,  VH-DAN turned up in a Stearman Kaydet (Freeware model by David Eckert - can't remember where I found it on the net but it's out there with an update for FSX).

Also a DeHavilland Dragon Rapide was also in attendance. Its an FSX model by Dave Garwood. I found it here: http://www.compilots.com/downloads/details.php?image_id=471

Great flight. Thanks all for letting me be a part of it.

Hey Tom,

You must be very happy with the visuals you are getting on your computer. Those cloud effects are outstanding. What are you using for them? They almost look like Real Environment Xtreme textures.

I'm using ASX with FEX but the clouds don't look as impressive as yours.

I'm glad the Sunday flight went well for you and also that you had some good company.

Steve here. I'm just using FEX (Flight Environment X). No Activesky. Clouds set to medium coverage in FSX. Weather data courtesy FSINN.

My FEX setup is:

Cloud theme:"Edge Details"

Water theme: "Ambience"

Sky theme: "Jay Haze"

Water animation: "Choppy Nitro"

The sun is enhanced with a freeware replacement called suneffect.zip which I found on AVSIM.

I'm blown away by how realistic this "game" is becoming. A great complement to real world training.

The company, as always, was great.

Thanks again Paul for putting these flights together. I'm really looking forward to your VFR radio training events coming up too.
