Josef A Kunzlar
Yes, big. Bigger than a Lear. Big enough to require UKMIL to make a freeware version... with reverse thrust. On final... Yes, that's a C-17 Globemaster III on KBVS pavement! Let's see if it can stop by the end of the runway. Certainly burning rubber... Yes, "The Spirit of the Wright Brothers" can land at KBVS, but park? Oh sure... and dwarf even the Learjets. But can she take off again? Not just can she take off again, but take off with room to spare. The UKMIL C-17 - at that great price called free - can be found on Flightsim.com. Rob Newman
we had 3 C-17s land at RAF Northolt when I served there (when G.W.Bush arrived in the UK for a visit... apparently he needed 3 C-17s worth of crap... And how much checked and carry on are WE limited to?!)... The runway there is quite short and they came in so close to the end of the runway that one of them ended up with half a hedgerow caught in it's main gear! (ripped it right out the ground). Wonderful aircraft though...
Josef A Kunzlar
Thanks guys. amentiba - Happy to help. UKMIL is one of the great freeware developers! sherrjo72 - I know the feeling. ( robnewman76 - Thanks much, can't believe a POTUS needed three C-17s + the 747-200.
Josef A Kunzlar
Since these are pics of a C-17 taking off and landing from a 5,477 foot runway... how would you like to hear that very recently a C-17 for real operated from a 3,400 feet runway? It did happen: http://www.myfoxtampabay.com/story/19075531/2012/07/20/giant-military-cargo-plane-lands-at-small-airport
