Dactyl
Hello to all, today I made a flight. The Date was January the 5, 2010. With OAT of -7 °C and light snow. FromSalem to Mt Jefferson about 4500 ft ASL. I saw that not every texture tile was white. Is this a FSX problem/feature of depicting Winter (mild and hard), I think I heared about this. Regards Jochen. I hope it is okay to start a new topic for every kind of problem ?
Holger Sandmann
Hello Jochen, we use an altitude dependent seasons file to model the gradual change of the snowline and other seasonal aspects throughout the year. It's explained in more detail here: http://orbxsystems.com/forums/index.php?topic=20728.msg177553#msg177553 The system isn't perfect because it needs to be based on a ~1 sq-km grid resolution so it's possible that you'll see those kinds of patches in some areas. Then again, snow depths in the real world aren't always uniform either. Cheers, Holger
Dactyl
Thanks for the clarification. Yesterday I made a flight to Mt Jefferson to Timothy Lake with my A2A Piper Cub with skis (the first time with them) and saw that the lakes and rivers are frozen And then I tried several starts and landings.
