We're continuing North along the coast to Newcastle, and a little dirt strip that goes by the name of Wallsend...

We managed to blag hangar space overnight, which was nice.

Of course, we pushed the plane out and did the preflight outside -- never start your engine inside the hangar!!

The wind has swung around since we arrived, so we're going out the way we came in.

BUG cleared for take off, 07...

And we're going

This is Aeropelican. On one side is Lake MacQuarie...

...and on the other, the Pacific ocean.

Heck, they even have traffic lights!! (I won't tell you about my first night sortie, when I was convinced I'd spotted the airfield PAPI lights... till they turned green. My instructor was wetting himself!)

Lake MacQuarie is Australia's largest coastal salt water lake, and twice the size of Sydney Harbour.

Passing Newcastle heliport. Newcastle is the second most populous area in NSW, and also the world's largest coal exporting port.

Just beyond the harbour is Williamtown Military airfield. I did touch & go there, but it's just YADA, so I haven't shown it.

Back on the edge of Newcastle, and we reach Wallsend

A private strip that RW is only open to RA-Aus aircraft

It's also a bit marshy

Although we don't get to seep in a hangar tonight, at least we have a concrete pad to park on, so our feet will stay dry!
