John Lovell
Already flown down from Hervey Bay to Caloundra... So I thought I’d stay in Australia for a while longer and try and make it down to Tasmania! Well this stage in the leg sees me flying from Caloundra bay to Redcliffe, a nice airfield close to Brisbane Int. A very short hop, so I thought I’d take the much abused and used Cub up for this one! Lined up at Caloundra ready to go Steady climb, but something don’t feel right with the engine power... hmm, maybe some Carb heat might help Such a gorgeous Sunrise over the bay! [img width=1121 height=700]http://fsfiles.org/flightsimshots/images/9672010_9_21_22_23_32_534.jpg Engine still dont sound so good... Cause I been flying this aircraft allot, I haven’t paid much attention to any maintenance [img width=1121 height=700]http://fsfiles.org/flightsimshots/images/8292010_9_21_22_23_49_283.jpg Ahhhgg!!... There she blows!!... Gonna have to shut the window before I choke.. and need to ditch somewhere safe [img width=1121 height=700]http://fsfiles.org/flightsimshots/images/5812010_9_21_22_37_55_761.jpg Completely cut out... This plane glides very well, you can practically stop her on a dime [img width=1121 height=700]http://fsfiles.org/flightsimshots/images/8902010_9_21_22_37_58_365.jpg Got her down safe, now need to call the breakdown recovery!... got an app on my iphone for that! [img width=1121 height=700]http://fsfiles.org/flightsimshots/images/3762010_9_21_22_39_19_803.jpg Not too long and we are back in the air... Just some issue with the oil, lucky that the engine isn’t ruined [img width=1121 height=700]http://fsfiles.org/flightsimshots/images/1522010_9_21_22_46_38_90.jpg That’s more like it!... now she flying like a bat out of hell, well... kinda like.. [img width=1121 height=700]http://fsfiles.org/flightsimshots/images/3202010_9_21_22_47_22_666.jpg Before we know it, I got Redcliffe airfield in my sights [img width=1121 height=700]http://fsfiles.org/flightsimshots/images/7142010_9_21_22_55_32_209.jpg Just clearing the trees [img width=1121 height=700]http://fsfiles.org/flightsimshots/images/7982010_9_21_22_56_27_298.jpg Another one done.... wouldn’t mind one of those Balloon flights [img width=1121 height=700]http://fsfiles.org/flightsimshots/images/4222010_9_21_22_59_2_244.jpg Now I’ll get the Cub looked over until my next flight south........ alexf
Beautiful. YRED is my fav airport in FTX-AU. Great place and ambiance. Cub flights out of there are superb.
Tigerclaw
Very nice indeed, and I liked the narrative too You gotta love that cub, although I've never had an engine out yet
