Otto Eijkman
I've updated the Prepar3D v5. 1 Hotfix 1 (5.1. 12.26829). P3D v5 won't start. A message appears 'Chaseplane failed to update itself......'See attached image. Before the update Chaseplane worked fine. I launched Orbx Central and tried to update it. I get the message 'Chaseplane failed to update itself. Try updating it manually in Orbx Central under the My Products section. As the attached image shows, I did and that its the result. Thank you for your help.
Otto Eijkman
I tested the Orbx Central system by verifying files from another product. As the attached image shows, that failed. I have also opened a support ticket with Parralel42 with a Crash log in case the issue is with them. Thank you for your time.
Otto Eijkman
I have scoured the Internet and spent hours trying to solve technical problems that are beyond my scope. Please advice me if I'm barking up the wrong tree, but I really would appreciate some support. OK, so, I was at the end of my tether and thought maybe there is a scenery incompatibility. So=, through Orbx Central, I deleted AU Australia V2, Wallah, suddenly, Chaseplane installed and I soon got P3DV5.1 working. Now, upon attempting to reinstall Australia V2, on very many occasions on other disks having covered many suggested strategies to overcome it, I now still get the message that 'You don't have enough free disk space to complete the installation.' Please see image attached. My SSD drive has 262GB of FREE disk space. Interestingly. Australia V2 is displayed with a 'Buy' as well as an 'Install option. My scenery in P3DV5.1 is terrible without it. Either tell me I'm barking up the wrong tree expecting support or, please, guide me towards a solution. I have attached a Orbx log file. Thanking you in anticipation for me to start enjoying my products. central.log
Nick Cooper
Hello, your lack of free space is perhaps on your C drive, where your Windows Temp folder is. You can change the temporary folder used by Orbx Central on the Downloader page.
Otto Eijkman
Thank you for your reply Nick. Not wanting to create further issues, I have to be careful what changes I make. How do I change the temporary folder used by Orbx Central? As you can see, from the image attached, my C Drive has plenty of free space. I look forward to further guidance. Thank you for your time. Nick Cooper
Hello, can you try disabling the check for free space and see if that helps?
Otto Eijkman
I disabled the check for free space. This time it began to install but quickly gave me a Instalation error - see image attached. I verified the files etc. but keeps giving me the same error message, although it now has a tick and shows me it's installed.
Otto Eijkman
I've tried installing through Orbx Central, with the same error cycle.
Otto Eijkman
I mean, I've tried uninstalling through Orbx Central and get stuck in the same cycle. I also tried another database. Still no solution. Thank you for your time.
Nick Cooper
Hello, perhaps your temp file is limited in size. It seems to point to a D drive. I see these two messages in the log that you posted. Quote Free space available on Temporary Location: 582483968. Free space required: 11128566363 2021-01-18T05:06:41.635Z [INFO] [Saturn] - Not enough free space available on temp download path: D:\Orbx\temp\octemp Orbx Central seems also to be reporting Windows_NT 10.0.18363, which is, as far as I can tell from the internet, the May 2019 version of Windows 10 and rather out of date. Are you using some form of compatibility mode to run Orbx Central?
Otto Eijkman
Hi Nick, Thank you for your follow-up. I was surprised at Windows not being up to date as it said it was so I downloaded it manually and now I'm up to date. Thanks for that. I checked the placement of the Temp file and choose a hard disk that exists. Presently all is going well thanks to your patient guidance. Brisbane airport is looking hyper green but I'm sure tweaking the setting will enable me to enjoy the best Orbx has to offer with the Flora and Trees add ons. Thank you again.
