missing files - scenery not loading

Hi,

I'm unable to load the Scenery for the South of England - the warning message states that files are missing.  I've re-installed, verified and updated the library programme - but still no joy..  

 

I'm a bit of an amateur when it comes to computing - and I don't really understand what the log file is telling me or more importantly - what to do about it.  Can anyone help?  I've copied the relevant bits of the log file below:

You probably don't have enough free disk space. The extract of the log file says

"The terrain file 'terrain/a910x10160x17.ter' could not be located." which is an indicator that the conversion of orthos files from jpg to dds was not completed normally due to a lack of free space.

Have you read this link in ull and confirm that you meet ALL the requirements especially in regard to the free space on your C drive where by default your Temp folder resides. and the fre space on your disk you want install onto?

For TEGB South you will need at least about 65Gb of free space on the disk where your Temp folder is and at least 150+GB of free space on your installation disk

Hi,

 

Thanks for your reply!  My C drive currently has 80.1 GB free, and my D drive has 583 GB free..

I'm just trying in my mind to track where things are... It seems that my installation is on C, but that the library where the scenery is installed is on D.  Does that mean that I have to free up space on C?

Edit:  I'm updating my install of X plane 11 via Steam, but then I'm going to migrate it to my D drive to ensure that there is much more space.  Hopefully that will solve any of those issues..  Not sure why it was installed on C drive anyway - I didn't select that when I initially installed it some time ago (but one of my children did update a while ago - perhaps that was when it happened)

C drive free space is not really enough in my opinion. Yes it is more than 65Gb but it is your OS system drive as well so it needs looking after and allowed to function efficiently as designed. This means normally allowing at least about 15% of it's capacity to be left free to allow it to perform optimally.

Did you read the link i gave? I suggest you move your temp folder to your D drive. How to do that is in the guide I linked.  is you XPlane installed on D drive? If not it shpuld be, again to keep C drive clean of all valuable programmes like XP. If the disk goes wrong or Windows gats a virus for example you may well have to reinstall your OS and you will lose XP and all other programmes on C drive.

The good thing about XP is that you can cut and paste the whole installation to another drive if you want.

So to summarise:

Relocate/make a new Temp folder on D drive. Follow the clear guidance in the Link i gave you on what to and hoe to that including then showing Orbx central where you new Temp folder is.Move XPlane to D drive if not already there.

Install TEGB Central to  the XP directory if possible or to that Library you say you made on D drive.
