Problems with ORBX Central v 4.0.23

After installing ORBX Central I bought the AddOn Edinburgh.

Now I have the following problems with ORBX Central:

1. the new AddOn cannot be installed

2 The Main Library cannot be edited. You also cannot create a new library.

Create. The Edit and Delete buttons are inactive.

3. ORBX ObjectFlow cannot be installed.

Uninstalling followed by reinstalling did not solve the problem.

Therefore, my idea would be to uninstall ORBX Central again. But then

to delete any remaining directories. How it would be:

C:\User\Name\AppData\Local

orbx-central updater

C:\User\Name\AppData\Roaming\

Central and the file identifier

Then reinstall ORBX Central.

I did this once. Unfortunately without success.

Installing a product is still not possible.

The Main Library can still not be changed or re-created.

I am not using ORBX Central with the P3Dv4 before or after the installation.

together. I am using Windows 7 Pro 64. Flightsimulator is P3Dv4.5

Best regards

Horst

Helo,

Orbx Central is displaying all the symptoms of P3D being run at the same time.

Could it be that although P3D may be closed, you still have running a program

that uses its folder, Active Sky, Chaseplane or perhaps even Rex Environment Force?

You can use the Task Manager to check these things.

Also please be sure that you are closing Orbx Central and not just minimising it to the

Taskbar, where it will continue to run.

Your settings should be like this:

Hi Nick,

I went together with Horst through the installation of ORBX Central. The whole process went as it should. We started from a freshly rebooted computer, no AV running.

The Task Manager showed no P3D version running, no other simulator running and no other programs as Active Sky or else.

Nevertheless appeared the error message that P3D is running.

Since I cannot find any application or process running via the Task Manager, is there another way to identify which process/program/error could produce this error message? Is there a file or folder somewhere that may store this error from previous sessions?

Any help would be appreciated.

We've just made Orbx Central v4.0.25 available in fastlane. You can opt-in to fastlane in Orbx Central under Settings, My Account. After opting-in, restart Orbx Central and you'll be updated to the right version. Does this issue still persist after updating?

Anybody any idea? Which folders or data must be deleted to achieve a complete deinstallation of ORBX Central?

  • %Temp%\Orbx
  • %AppData%\Orbx\Central
  • %LocalAppData%\Programs\orbx-central

Sorry, no change whatsoever. ORBX C always comes back with the error message, that P3D is still running. But it has been checked over and over again, there is no sim or sim-related programs running. No idea what causes this error.

Mitchell,

may I come back to this problem for Horst:

As far as I see it, ORBX C is preventing any changes to the libraries and consequently any new installation because an error is triggered that P3D is running.

Fact is that P3D is NOT running. In fact I closed all not really needed processes and all other programs which had no effect on that error.

Additionally I tested on a perfectly running installation (my own one), that it is possible to download and install new products WITH P3D running. So, what is the reason behind the error message on Horst's installation? His P3D is not running but the error remains. We checked Anti-Virus and Firewall to be off, cleared all TEMP folders, but the error remains.

Please advise on how to get ORBX C working again.

Thank you.

Hello,

I suppose that if the developers could reveal what Orbx Central is looking for

to discover whether or not the simulator is running would be the key.

So far, no one has said and I do not know.

My earlier contribution, that perhaps something else is making the P3D folders appear

to be in use by P3D stands, as it is a phenomenon that I observe myself on my own system.

For example, if Rex Environment Force or Active Sky are still running, I cannot rename the

P3D folder, of course because these two processes have files in use inside it.

Unless or until someone can replicate Horst's problem elsewhere than on his own PC, it will remain

a matter for conjecture.

The check performed by Orbx Central looks through the list of running processes for any that match executable file name of the current. In the case of P3D V4 the string of characters is 'prepar3d.exe'. Case is ignored in the search. If any process has this string of characters in it's name or it's arguments Orbx Central will disable the buttons.

Orbx Central v4.0.27 is now available via fastlane. See details below on how to opt-in if you haven't already.

Can you all try to see if v4.0.27 resolves this issue? If not, please attach your Central log file and we'll investigate further.
