halobiont
Hi, I recently installed openLC North America which appears to have caused kernelbase.dll ctd always after descent on on approach. This was happening every flight. I uninstalled openLC North America and I'm no longer having any problems. The test flights were with the PMDG NGX on P3D4.4. Any ideas? Thanks, Doug 5c54a0423049a
halobiont
Of course I would like to have this product installed and working. What other information do you need to help? Thanks, Doug
Nick Cooper
Hello, the " kernelbase.dll" error is a generic report and does not really indicate what is at fault. Your post seems to indicate that this takes place always "after descent on on approach" and that "this was happening every flight". It seems that the other thing in common with such events is the aircraft. Does this happen all over the virtual world?
halobiont
Thank you for the reply. I know that is a difficult error. I've only tried NA. I just know that I don't have the ctd with NA uninstalled.
halobiont
Is this the right place for support? Thanks, Doug
Nick Cooper
Does this happen everywhere or do you only fly in the area covered by Open LC NA? Secondly, can you describe exactly what happens please?
halobiont
Hi, I only fly in NA. Sometime after TOD usually around 10000' or so AGL I have a ctd. With NA uninstalled this does not happen. Thank you.
Nick Cooper
Thanks, is this a ctd or is it the aircraft that crashes?

halobiont
Hi, Respectfully asking if will I be able to receive some support on this issue? This ticket was opened 12 days ago. Is this the right place for technical support? Thank you, Doug
Nick Cooper
Hello. OpenLC products consist of textures and landclass data that arrange them. I have seen occasional reports of aircraft crashes taking place above OpenLC but so far, none of simulator crashes. Unfortunately, the kernelbase.dll error message is generic and of little help. "Sometime after TOD usually around 10000' or so AGL I have a ctd" seems to indicate that this circumstance is the common denominator, rather than the location but without a test outside the area, it is only conjecture. If you can fly somehwere else as a test flight, South America perhaps or Europe, see if the same error takes place there.
halobiont
Hi, I could do that but it's quite clear that your product is somehow involved in the simulator crashing as I have absolutely no problems when it is uninstalled and the simulator crashes when it is installed. That seems pretty conclusive to me and I'm not sure what flying outside NA with NA installed will do to diagnose this problem. It's likely it will not ctd as it seems the problem is with the scenery in the NA region. If I were to fly outside NA with the product installed (which I will) what would be the next course of action if there was no issue?
Nick Cooper
I would possibly ask the Open LC developer. As I mentioned, your complaint is, as far as I recollect, unique.
halobiont
Thanks. How do I ask the Open LC developer?

Nick Cooper
Hello, I am in communication with the developer. Are you using or have you used either Ultimate Terrain X - USA or Ground Environment X? Also can you attach copies of your C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\scenery.cfg file C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\add-ons.cfg file and C:\Users\your name\AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\add-ons.cfg file please? halobiont
Hi, I've ordered Ultimate Terrain X and probably did install it at one time in the past. I'm not aware that I'm using it now. I don't see any sign of it. Files are attached. Thank you, Doug add-ons.cfg scenery.cfg add-ons.cfg
Nick Cooper
Thanks. Open LC North America is presently not installed.
halobiont
Correct. If I install it, the sim crashes. I'm trying to avoid that problem...
Nick Cooper
Thanks. Perhaps you can first refresh your terrain.cfg file. You can do this by deleting C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\terrain.cfg. When you restart P3D, a new one will be created. Unless you install Open LC, nothing further can be tried. If you install it, it is a simple matter to then untick the scenery library entries to disable it if required.
halobiont
Ok I have made two successful flights after regenerating terrain.cfg and then reinstalling OpenLC NA. Thanks for your help.
