Scenery anomalies (All areas)

Recommended Posts

I have recently started experiencing an issue with what appears to be corrupted scenery. I have attached a sample which was taken leaving runway 14R at AYPY, but I am seeing similar issues in random places worldwide. The issues shows black squares, which seem to change as you approach them to other scenery types e.g. water. They never change to match the surrounding area though. This reminds me of a similar problem I saw in DX10 preview days.

I have searched the forums and tried the following thus far:

1. Renamed terrain.cfg file and allowed Prepar3d to rebuild, started sim with no change.

2. Ran FTX Central 3 and awaited confirmation that it had activated the scenery, started sim with no change.

I couldn't see any other suggestions, hence the support request here.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Mervyn, welcome to the forums

Please confirm and/or apply the below procedure.

Ensure the Orbx Libs are installed and up to date. (is there a blue notification above the settings button in FTXC3?)

Ensure all of your 3rd party non Orbx addons are at the top of your scenery library and above your FTX entries.

Then in FTX Central 3 Insertion points, move "FTX entries should be inserted below"  just below your last 3rd party addon.

Then move the "openLC entries should be inserted below"  just below your FTX entries. and click "Save".

Then run the "Force Migration" option.

Then, if you have Vector installed, there is a Vector control panel access button at the bottom of the FTXC3 settings page. When you open it you can select the amount of road coverage etc, be sure to uncheck the "Frozen Surface (in winter only)"option, and check the Australia Add-Ons under the “Settings” tab, then go to the Airport Elevation Correction (AEC tool) tab and run the auto configuration process and be sure to click on "Appy" when it is done scanning.

Cheers

Doug

Hi Doug,

I checked the ORBX LIBS and verified they were up to date.

I already had the scenery in the order you say, but to ensure this I selected the insertion points for FTX and openLC entries again and saved it.

I ran the Force Migration option as requested.

With Vector I had already seen in the forum that Frozen Surface (in winter) causes an issue in P3DV4, so that is already unticked. Also as I have all the Australia scenery I ensured that Australia Add Ons were ticked under settings.

I then ran the AEC tool, which I do every time I add new scenery anyway and applied it as mentioned.

End product - problem solved, the squares have disappeared and things appear correctly now.

Thanks for your guidance.

Regards,

Meryn
