Its not something we get to do very often, and the first time i have seen one go.

This is a test where we are asked to depoly the slide to ensure it works properly as a requirement by CASA.

Note to self... never stand under an exit door before an evacuation the force that this thing depolys with is pretty full on. As it gets to full extension if you were standing they you'd be knocked back a fair way.

The card board is to protect the airframe, there is some on the ground... but we completly misjudged how far out it would come lol

Next time i will try to get a video. My work mates have some footage, so i will see what i can do.

Yes, I guess speed is the essence therefore plenty of psi

Actually, (well in the a380's case, i guess it's others as well) its rocket power which creates a vacuum that fills the slide in 3 seconds.

Watching engineering connections with Richard Hammond last night :)
