Rimshot
Hi Guys, This one is for British real world pilots. Fairoaks airfield, EGTF, is within the Heathrow CTR. I was wondering if you also have to contact Heathrow tower when departing from the airfield, because once you're airborn you fly in the Heathrow CTR. And at what point would you contact Heathrow tower? On the ground, or when you are airborn? And how to act when you approach EGTF for landing? I assume you'll have to contact Heathrow tower first to get clearance to enter the CTR and after that you switch to EGTF. Am I right?
johnwillimas
Try the airfield documents available here... http://www.nats-uk.ead-it.com/public/index.php%3Foption=com_content&task=blogcategory&id=67&Itemid=116.html In the textual data, I interpret the instruction in 2.17 as needing clearance from Heathrow once exceeding 1500ft above the airfield or 2 miles from it if below 1500ft. There's further details in 2.22.....
