Bandselect
Hi - I am an active FSX user looking to migrate to P3D v4 in the next year. Using FSX, I have always placed Orbx sceneries in the FSX root folder. While I have a 1TB SSD, I have only about 10% capacity free. My Orbx folder resides in my FSX folder and is approx 264GB in size. I recently became aware of new changes to airport sceneries by FSDT and the fact that those airports can be located on a seperate drive, as long as all sceneries in that family are in the same folder. Question - when I shift to P3D and add my Orbx sceneries, can the Orbx files be stored in a separate drive? Thanks.
Nick Cooper
Hello, yes it can be but only by the use of a symbolic link. There must be an ORBX folder in the simulator root folder but it can be a zero size link to files stored elsewhere. You cannot add ORBX scenery using the .xml method. While I have your attention, would you mind removing all the unnecessary order numbers from your signature please? One, entered in the Order number box in your profile is enough. Bandselect
Nick - thanks very much. I am familiar with the utilities that link files across different locations and the need to maintain pointer folders. I have trimmed my signature to my original purchase from Orbx!
