Robert Leitch
Transaction ID: 588fb48351a8a Hi all, I've just got back in to FSX having finally got a pc fit to run it properly. I just installed EU Scotland and I'm finding that there are textures missing. Instead, I've got a lot of black rectangles where I think there should be trees? I've downloaded the following up to date files - Flight Central; orbx libraries; orbx EU Scotland update. I've deselected all other sceneries for Scotland to avoid any conflicts - I even took out the regions that I'm not flying in as I know that can cause problems too. I'm running Windows 10 latest build. I'm running an i5 6400 with 8gb ram and an nvidia 1060 6gb ram. If anyone can shed any light on my predicament I'd be much obliged. Nick Cooper
Hello and welcome to the forums. I would guess that you have selected the "Preview Direct X 10" option on your in-game Display Settings page. If you deselect it and restart FSX the black shapes will go away. Robert Leitch
Hi Nick, Thanks for the welcome and the speedy reply And yes disabling directx 10 did the trick. Thanks very much. Out of interest what was going on?
Nick Cooper
The Direct X 10 mode was never fully developed by Microsoft before their team was closed down. Quite a lot of things don't work properly and the FTX lighting is one of them. There is a way to run successfully in Direct X 10 but it is not free.
