active Failed Install

Hi,

 

I have used FTX Central to download the FTX Global Base Pack, it says the product is installed and working within FTC Centreal but the scenery looks exactly the same as it did before, I have matched FSX settings to those suggested in the guide, does it need switching on in FSX STEAM edition and is there a way to verify it is actually installed. The manual that came with it is maddeningly unhelpful.

Hello and welcome to the forums.

You need also to install the latest libraries and FTX Central.

You should see three scenery library entries,

ORBX!OPENLC_BASE

ORBX!OPENLC_EUROPE1

ORBX!OPENLC_NAMERICA1

and the scenery should look very different to the FSX default.

It is not easy to tell anything from a screen shot from inside any aircraft, when the subject is

view from the outside.

Perhaps you could try going to Aberdeen,Scotland in winter and show a screen shot of that in spot view

for comparison.

Default FSX has the whole area a completely unworldly brown, something it never is.

Updating the FTXC libraries appears to have cracked it I think,

 

I have attached a screen shot of Aberdeen, can you confirm this looks correct?

Yes, that looks much better, doesn't it and nothing at all like the winter default textures.

Do you have autogen at a very low level?

I have it on normal at the moment as the manual recommends, the PC should be able to handle a lot more, should I turn it up?

It's up to you of course, there is a higher density of autogen in the FTX Global product

and I am sure that system will carry it with ease.
