SirDan
Ok just going to Verify integrity of game cache from steam in hopes that it will rewrite the registry then run it again.
Nick Cooper
It will not and will overwrite all the default files if you do it. Can you look in Windows File Explorer for the location of your FSX folder?
SirDan
Sorry Nick too late , it is already 80% complete with the Steam download. I totally didn't think about looking for it with File Explorer as tbh I would not even know what to look for. or where. Am totally lost atm. SirDan
I am looking now in the file explore and have found a few FSX one being under Steam / steamapps / common/FSX After having read through a number of forum post my brain is hurting lol , So many different folders FSX / FSX:Steam / in Steam locations / roaming app locations , not sure what is what or where it should all be

SirDan
Local Disk / Users / Dan / Steam / steamapps / common / FSX That is what is showing on the Orbx Registry Fix Tool for the path for Microsft Flight Simulator X Also
SirDan
At this point think I will just uninstall everything and start fresh , reinstall it all from the ground up. Have been spending too many hours reading , trying different things with no clue as to what to do Thank you very much Nick for you time mate. Very frustrating. Almost at a point to just do a fresh install of the whole OS , seems a bit over the top in order to get some scenery files to work. lol
SirDan
So I just saw that I am limited to the number of down loads, I might not do a fresh install but maybe try and get this worked out as it is.
Nick Cooper
There is no limit to the number of times that you can install a product using FTX Central. What about using Steam to remove all the local content of FSX-SE and then re-installing it to somewhere more conventional. How many hard drives do you have? SirDan
Only one HD , deleting local content now , Reinstalling FSX Steam for the 2nd time today
Nick Cooper
Please install it to something like C:\Steam, it will give you a choice.

SirDan
Ok FSX:Steam is now installing for the 3rd time today.
Nick Cooper
Now run the Registry Fix tool and see where the registry entry points to. If it is not to where it is now installed, you should change it to match and if possible post a screen shot please?

SirDan
Ok now back to reinstalling a very Fresh FSX:Steam
SirDan
Nick looks like that link worked , I can't find any trace of FSX in the current FSX:Steam install registry for one. Maybe now I will be able to have a fresh install of FSX:Steam w/ol having to go through the orbx registry tool. Will update once orbx is up and running. SirDan
WoW it seems to be working. Running FTX Central 3 now and picked FSX:Steam and it is installing Orbx Libraries right now. I use to have to pick FSX not the Steam verison before. If getting rid of the FSX version from the registry happens then it will be worth going through all this I think. Nick Cooper
If it worked properly, now FTX Central will look exactly like FSX DVD Edition and should work properly.

SirDan
Looking through \ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX\Scenery.cfg I don't see any Version of C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX-SE\Scenery.cfg Validating FSX:Steam files once again, If I find the FSX-SE\Scenery file I will just copy the FSX\Scenery.cfg file into it , maybe that will work. Nick Cooper
The only scenery.cfg file that is active is Programdata\Microsoft\FSX\scenery.cfg Once you have a clean installation of FSX, use the Registry tool to set just one registry entry. Then run everything for FSX. Are you using FTX Central to install or FSS installers? Why do you persist with this location? C:\Steam\steamapps\common\FSX is likely to cause you a lot less problems.
