beardedpilot
I recently installed FTX Central and the Pacific Northwest demo. It took some work to get FTX Central to recognize FSX SE, but none of my mods seem to be affecting the scenery. I have the library installed too. What am I missing? I just built a new comp w/ a 1070, and was about to buy big on ORBX regions once I confirmed fps are where I wanted them! Super bummed right now :\
Nick Cooper
Hello and welcome to the forums. Probably FTX Central is writing to a scenery.cfg file that FSX-SE is not reading. Have a read of this topic
beardedpilot
When I run the registry, I get the following error. FTX Global is installed, and doesn't kick up any errors?

Nick Cooper
Hello, Try this topic and the fix in it.
beardedpilot
OK, my setup looks exactly like the screenshots provided by the user in that thread! On initial setup of FTX central, I indicated FSX steam edition. It doesn't prompt me to select the simulator when I launch FTX central, and the scenery is not being loaded when I go to KHQM.... Thoughts?

Nick Cooper
Can you use the FTX Registry Fix tool and post a screen shot of the result please?

Nick Cooper
What does this mean please? " On initial setup of FTX central, I indicated FSX steam edition "
beardedpilot
That was within FTX Central 3, when I was installing it initially.
beardedpilot
Should I just reinstall FTX Central?
Nick Cooper
It is probably worth a try, before you do, please delete C:\Users\Your name\AppData\Local\Orbx
beardedpilot
Just deleted \local\Orbx, reinstalled FTX Central 3, and now it shows a choice of both FSX and FSX SE when I launch FTX Central. I should choose FSX (non-steam) correct?
Nick Cooper
Yes indeed, the FSX option.
beardedpilot
Just launched FSX, still doesn't seem to be applying the scenery.
Nick Cooper
I have no idea how your installation is now configured. Do you see any error messages? Look in your in game scenery library and if you see no FTX entries, Close FSX, run FTX Central in FSX Steam Edition mode and see what happens. beardedpilot
No error messages. Here's my scenery library. Running in FSX Steam mode didn't work either.
beardedpilot
At this point, I'm willing to uninstall FSX and everything else, then reinstall everything.... Ugh!
Alex Goff
Hi beardedpilot, Could you post a screenshot in-sim of what you are seeing around Seattle or elsewhere in the PNW region?
beardedpilot
Sure! Don't tell me it's already applied?!
Nick Cooper
Don't worry about the error message, it is what I expected to happen if you used the FSX Steam Edition option. Please don't use it again, stick to the FSX option for FTX Central. From your screen shot of your scenery library, I think I have the same suspicion now as Alex, you have the scenery correctly installed but it's not what you were expecting. When you post your screen shot for him, please include the co-ordinates (Shift+Z) so that it can be replicated and thus confirm or deny that the installation is correct. beardedpilot
I'm relatively sure it didn't install correctly? This is KHQM in the post above. Is that not part of the demo?
Alex Goff
That looks correct. The stand-alone freeware KHQM is not included as part of the demo, but can be downloaded and used with the demo: https://orbxdirect.com/product/khqm Other than that being missing, the new textures, autogen, and vector data do look correct for the region. If you don't see the difference, pause, take a screenshot, then disable the scenery library items for PNW and take another screenshot for comparison. beardedpilot
I'm beyond embarrassed. That was it! I'm off to the shops for a bit, but when I get back I'll drop some cash on your store. That KHQM freeware was the jaw dropping moment I remembered from my last install! How did I sim before Orbx?!?
Alex Goff
No worries If you end up picking up PNW, there is a fair bit of other freeware we have available for it on the freeware page as well. And if you continue getting an error with FTX Central, please open a support thread for it. Cheers, Alex
