Vilgot Lundborg
Hi, I have a problem with the installation of FTX global. I bought FTX global yesterday, to use it for FSX: steam edition. The problem is that when I am in the installation, FSX doesn't show up when I'm going to select which version I want to download it to. Please help. Nick Cooper
Hello and welcome to the forums. Please go to this page and download the FSX Registry Utility. You can then use it to add the missing entry to your Windows registry. Once you have done this, you will see FSX in the installer drop down menu. Nick Cooper
Hello, You will need to install the latest libraries . This will also install FTX Central. Once completed, open FTX Central and click on Apply Group.

Vilgot Lundborg
Does it work if I delete the game and then install it again?

Nick Cooper
No, it won't make any difference. If you look in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft, do you see an FSX folder and do you also see an FSX-SE folder?
Vilgot Lundborg
I just see the FSX folder.
Nick Cooper
Is there a scenery.cfg file in there?

Vilgot Lundborg
It is.
Nick Cooper
Presumably FTX Central is not looking in there for it. When you installed your products, did you install them to FSX or to FSX Steam Edition?
Vilgot Lundborg
FSX Steam Edition I think.
Nick Cooper
Try re-installing to FSX.
Vilgot Lundborg
I don't have FSX on my computer, only FSX:SE. But all the files are called FSX instead of FSX Steam Edition. I don't know why.
Nick Cooper
Yes. The installer for FSX Steam Edition is designed to install to the Steam Edition when it is loaded onto a PC with FSX disk edition. If you have only FSX Steam Edition, it should have only FSX folders in Appdata and use the same registry entries as FSX disk. Therefore, the correct installer to use is FSX. I suspect that FTX Central has been told that your version is FSX Steam Edition with FSX disk and is therefore looking for your scenery.cfg file at C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX-SE which isn't there. If you install to FSX, FTX Central should then look in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX where it will find the scenery.cfg file.
Vilgot Lundborg
So I should just open FTX central and click Microsoft Flight Simulator X in the "select a simulator" menu?
Vilgot Lundborg
Or do you mean that I will reinstall FTX global and click FSX in the installation instead of FSX Steam Edition?
Nick Cooper
If you have the choice, first try selecting FSX in the FTX Central start menu, that may do the trick on its own.
Vilgot Lundborg
Okay I'll try that
