KFHR SP1 - No effect for me

Hey,

I today have installed update 110 and don't see any improvement regarding FPS.

FTX Central set to 1024 Resolution doesn't seem to change any texture size.

Switching between 2048 and 1024 doesn't seem to show any effect within my texture folder for KFHR.

The scenery and texture folders dates were updated, but the large texture files stayed on 2048x2048 sizes.

including ground poly textures.

I can reduce these textures sizes myself, but wasn't the update 110 supposed to do this?

Thanks for any clarification.

Regards

Ernst

Though I am not a developer, I expect that selecting the 1024 texture setting

makes the airport use the new "Low" textures instead of the existing 2048 ones.

I would expect to see no change in the airport texture folder.

Switching to the 1024 textures adds about 10% to the available VAS for me.

Hi Updraft,

As Nick said, the control panel doesn't work like that. It will not convert textures for you.

When 2048 is selected, the airport will use the normal textures. When selecting 1024, the airport will use the textures tagged with "Low_" instead. These are the 1024 textures.

It's likely that this will not improve your FPS as this just frees up video memory. Some people have FPS issues in that area even without KFHR installed. I would recommend disabling any options you don't use in the control panel, and see if that makes a difference for you. If that makes no difference, maybe revise your density settings for that area.

Unfortunately, KFHR is located in quite a performance intensive area for FSX and has been a problem since day one. The most we can do is give you as many options in the control panel as possible to help you customize the airport to fit your preferences.

Hope that helps,

Russ

Hi Nick,

Hi Russ,

I was not aware of this elegant procedure.

The scenery is absolutely gorgeous but one of the heaviest on frames and VAS.

But then it's the entire (great) area there...

Thanks for clarifying the process.

Best regards

Ernst
