John Venema
Orbx is doing a payware Essendon at 15cm/pixel resolution. You be able to say hello to every weed and pebble in the place, and go do your shopping at DFO while you're at it. We expect it to be out before year's end, if not sooner. I missed listing it off my "what we're doing next" thread

brendanstacey
15cm/pixel!! Thats insane! Is that the first of its kind in fsx ever regarding scenery?
John Venema
15cm/pixel!! Thats insane! Is that the first of its kind in fsx ever regarding scenery? No not at all. Robin Corn has made a freeware 15cm NZPP scenery, and it's superb! You can see real water in the swimming pools behind houses. Quite stunning really. 50MB download. Grab it here: http://library.avsim.net/search.php?SearchTerm=paraparaumu+robin+corn&CatID=root&Go=Search 15cm/pixel is perfect for airports and/or small scenery areas, and that's the approach Orbx is taking with that sort of resolution. John Venema
And Melbourne is 1m? Melbourne is a combo of 1m and 15cm. All source is 15cm, but for size and performance reasons and being over a 28km sq area, we've resampled the larger areas to 1m.
brendanstacey
So in that case wouldnt the scenery overlap the CBD (from YMML)? Which would be done over again in more detail with Cityscapes?
John Venema
So in that case wouldnt the scenery overlap the CBD (from YMML)? Which would be done over again in more detail with Cityscapes? Not at all - Tullamarine is roughly about 15km from the CBD and the photoreal area around YMML only extends a few km towards the city. The total YMML photoreal area is 28km square., which is an area spanning all the grassed areas of the airport precinct, plus fringes of surrounding suburbs, the Bulla township and the Keilor Park Rd industrial area - all a long way from the CBD
brendanstacey
Ok then, i guess your right now when I think about it. But what about Sydney and YSSY? Im pretty sure Botany Bay is within 25kms from the CBD, well, i hope so anyway.
