What you're seeing is the typical "tiling" of the default landclass, which places the same type of (agricultural) texture across many square km, particularly in the central parts of the US. Neither Global Base nor Vector improve on the basic landclass, it's the openLC series that does so and it's still in development for the continental US. There are other third-party landclass products available but I don't know whether they would improve on the situation in that particular area. Tiling aside I'm not sure that I'm seeing the Global Base textures in your screenshot, the beige colors are more typical of the default textures.
