This is driving me nuts!

Recommended Posts

After uninstalling FSX to keep Steam as my only sim, and after changing the setting in the registry to allow FTX Central to treat Steam with the same structure as FSX, as suggested here, I still get crashes with FTX Central and it cannot find the scenery cfg file. Any help would be highly appreciated at this point...

Yes.

You may well need to re-install your products.

I expect that the required files for ESSA will be in the FSX-SE folder.

I installed the libraries and that fixed it, buildings reappeared.

When I installed them the installer gave me the only option to install to FSX but then it gave me the path to my steam FSX. That's what I should be looking for when I install scenery from Orbx I guess.

You should be able to remove the FTX Central start menu if you use

the Registry Editor to delete the Dovetail Games entry from here:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\DovetailGames

That will leave FTX Central using only the FSX folders.

I don't want to remove FTX Central anymore, it is working as it should now.

If removing this will help keep things tidy in the future and won't screw up my sim I will do so. Do I just delete that folder from the registry or the FSX folder underneath it, or the microsoft folder above the entry? All I do is right click and delete, correct? Thanks.

Just delete DovetailGames.

Right click on Dovetail Games only and select delete.

Don't touch anything else and the only effect will be to remove the start menu

from FTX Central.

Now I get the purpose of doing this! Will do, thanks for your patience.

One more question please: If I want to edit the FSXSE cfg file I have to go to the one in the FSX folder, correct? ... the one in "username, appdata, microsoft, fsx?
