  1. Don't worry Tommy, hope is not lost on you and the other Wyndham-ites... I managed to escape to the promised land! I was stranded there for 12 years though...
  2. Is there much available on the used market? Or do people get rid of them when they are no longer any good? Otherwise, I would be inclined to say that a brand new set of the cheapest Dave Clarks are probably going to be a damn sight better than an old beaten around club set...
  3. Thats Jake Blues. Or the late John Belushi to be precise..
  4. I love melbourne public transport! Nah just kidding, but I don't have to worry about it.. My morning routine consists of - Get on the motorbike in the backyard of my residance in South Wangaratta, ride it to work in Central Wangaratta. Sometimes theres a bit of traffic... 2 or 3 of them on a REALLY bad day...
  5. I know its a small world John, remember, I'm good buddies with your nephew Nathan... Although, its not all that hard to come across a Venema really. There's what, 11 in your generation?
  6. Great photos mark! You might be able to help me with something actually, seeing as you work for an aviation museum... I have a propeller blade that I've been trying to identify. It is a Hamilton Standard blade, and stands 5ft tall, which means it would've been roughly 11ft dia give or take when it was attached to a hub. The part number stamped on the base of the blade is 6379A-0. I have a long list of aircraft that it is NOT off, such as B-17, B-24, DC-3, Harvard, Wirraway, Catalina (its a narrower blade than the ones your standing in front of..), etc. All are roughly the right size, but either wrong shape or wrong part #. I'd post a picture of it, but right now its past my bedtime and I can't be bothered. Would your museum have access to any archives or anything that would have this kind of info?
  7. Interestingly, I have flown cross country with R/C sailplanes using probably your house block as a launch site (destination - Bacchus-Geelong road/Ballan Rd intersection... only ever made it once.), but we only left Werribee a shade over 12 months ago. Manor lakes was well developed. We even looked into buying a house in there at one stage, but decided a move back up to the country would be better for us...
  8. Hey Gurdy, I just noticed your "coordinates" in your location under your name... That puts you somewhere near where I was in Melbourne. In that area, I've lived (in this order) near the plaza, Bellbridge area, behind Werribee high, Hogan's Corner then finally (the good end of) Birdsville before moving up here to Wang.
  9. Thanks Spud for mistakenly looking for this in the VOZ forum. I wouldn't have noticed it otherwise.. I really should get over here more often. Great to meet you all, I'm Dave Roberts. divad_strebor is simply a means of avoiding spam email that I have been using for a lot of years now... quite successfully I might add. It is simply my full name spelt backwards. I'm 26 years old, and I live in Wangaratta Victoria. My wife, daughter and I have lived here for a shade over 12 months. Before moving here I was in the western suburbs of Melbourne for 12 years. Before that, I was in Wodonga for 6 or 7 years, and prior to that I lived in Wangaratta for 7 years. So essentially, I'm home. My first Sim was called (IIRC) 727 and was on a cassette tape that loaded in my Amstrad CPC464. I've had every version of MSFS since FS3, plus a handfull of combat style sims, etc. I too am into the FPS games, and I love a game with a story to go with it. I'm addicted to the Half-life series. Outside the computer room I enjoy ANY contact with aviation (currently looking into getting my Hang glider licence), and mucking around with motorbikes. I have a bit of a collection of sorts of 80's and 90's Suzuki road bikes in various stages of dis-repair. The one in this shot is a '93 GSXR 750 and is my daily rider. In the background on the bench you can see the frame of my project bike. Long story short, its an '85 GSX 1100 EFE to which I've fitted modern suspension and carried out major cosmetic surgery on it. One day I'll finish it. There are other bikes and bits of bikes that I have been stockpiling for future projects, but I've decided that once the 1100 is done, I'll focus my energy and finance on aviation, because thats where my true passion is. To keep a roof over the head and food on the table, I'm a qualified fitter and turner working in a major textile mill. If you know Wangaratta at all, you know where I work. Anyway, I think I've rambled on long enough... Time to let someone else have a go..
