  1. Hi All. Don't know if this is the right place, but I'll give it a go. I run p3d4.5 and p3d5.3 I have lots of Rikoo freeware downloads, mainly aircraft, they're great! But...it seems I can't install the same download into both p3d4 and p3d5. If I install into one, then try to install into the other, I'm told I have to uninstall the first install. Anyone else have this issue?

    Thanks for info/advice, Don.

  2. I play tennis. My wife and I play a mixed doubles match every Monday, I organize a men's four match every Wednesday, and every other Friday I play a singles match with an old workmate colleague, and I mean old - he's 76 and I'll be 80 come June! But we still play a good game, can't stop now or probably wouldn't start again! Tennis and flightsimming, it's a good life!

  3. Can I make scenario changes in p3d5 vr without removing my (Quest 2) headset?  For example, if I complete a flight in vr then want to select, say, a different airport or aircraft, or go into options, I cannot get to the scenario settings bar without removing my headset, making the changes, then replacing my headset to continue in vr. In p3d4 I use Flyingside, where you can get into menu settings and make changes while staying in vr...but can't use Flyingside in p3d5.

    Any help/advice please?

  5. I'm trying to load the PC Pilot UK Tours flight plans into MSFS. When I go into Load/Save in MSFS World Map the flight plan successfully loads, and shows on the World Map. When I click Fly to start the flight I'm taken to the flight plan departure airport. However, when I start the flight, and open the VFR map it shows my position, but no flight plan track. I thought maybe I need to save the flight plan when it shows on the World Map - but when I go to the folder which I downloaded the flight plan from...it is empty!

Any thoughts/help please...if the flight plan shows on the World Map, why not on the in-flight VFR map?

It actually not the same, right and left. You're also looking at it after it's been rendered twice by Streamlabs OBS and Adobe Premiere.

Well, it may not be the same left and right...but Streamlabs OBS and Adobe Premiere have done a pretty good job in making it look identical to default mesh!

    Hi Don

Simply open Orbx Central on your new PC.

Then select P3Dv5 from the drop down menu at the top.

    Then click on "My Products".

Then select/click on the product and the Install button should be revealed.

    Then install.

Hi Doug. Thanks for this. It does the trick...but download speed is awful. I have fibre broadband, 35 MB/s...excellent signal...speed checker shows download speed 35 MB/s. But...download speed when installing My Products into P3D5.2 via Central is 5 MB/s - max!.

That can't be right - it'll take weeks to get everything into P3D5! Any suggestions please?

Another query. Presumably My Products lists only those that are compatible with P3D5? Eg, I have Hammerfest in P3D4.5, but it doesn't show in My Products for P3D5. My Products P3D5 does show Other/Global/Airport Pack...so this is presumably ok for P3D5?

    Thanks for your advice,

    Don.

  8. Hi All. I've just installed p3d5.2 to my 2TB HDD, and will be installing p3d4.5 soon. I guess I'll need to defrag the drive from time to time...

    Which defrag program to use?

    How often to defrag?

    Thanks for advice,

    Don.

  9. Hi All. I've just installed p3d5 into my new PC. Also installed Orbx Central. This shows p3d5 as installed, and all my owned (but not yet installed) Orbx products. These are all currently installed in p3d4.5, awaiting transfer from my old to new PC.

How to install all my owned Orbx products into p3d5? Presumably my fairly extensive p3d4.5 product list will include some not yet compatible with p3d5. Apologies if this is covered somewhere in the Forums - couldn't find anything,

    Don.

  10. Hi Everyone. Thanks so much for all your comments and advice, it's been really helpful. I finally decided to go for the following spec...probably not perfect, but it -almost! - meets my budget, and I'm hoping it'll give me good results. I'll be installing MSFS to the 1TB SSD, and P3D 4.5 and 5.2 to the 2TB HDD...

I decided that as a 1TB M2 is very much faster than any SSD, I would buy one of them instead of the

1TB Samsung 870 EVO SSD. Probably it will be cheaper too.

Nick, excuse my ignorance... an M2 drive is not an HDD, but a faster SSD drive than an "ordinary" non-M2 SSD drive?

  12. Hi All. I'm looking at the following new rig spec for flightsim:

    Intel Core i7 11700K 8C16T, O/C up to 5.0GHz

ASUS ROG STRIX Z590-F GAMING WIFI, Intel Z590 Chipset

    16GB Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3000MHz

    12GBNVIDIA GEForce RTX 3060

    512GB Intel 660p M.2 SSD

    2TB Seagate BarraCuda HDD, 7200rpm, 64MB Cache

    1TB Samsung 870 EVO SSD

    Windows 10 Home 64 bit

Apparently, if I have multiple HDDs/SSDs RAID configuration is an option - do I go for that?

    My plan:

Install MSFS to the 1TB SSD

Install P3dv4 and P3Dv5 to the 2TB HDD.

Is the spec good enough? Does my plan make sense?

    Comments/advice appreciated,

    Don.
