  1. I know these have been reported in the past and they have been false positives. But this one is different. It happened during an attempt to update.

I'm going to delete central and reinstall to see what happens.

  2. My two bobs worth, I moved from FSX, to FSX:SE, then to P3D v4 and yet again to Xplane 11. Spent a good sum on addons for each and was reluctant to move to MSFS but after looking at a few videos prior to it's release in 2020 I bit the bullet and achieved XP and moved to MSFS. For me it has been marvellous and whilst there has been many frustrations, I have never regretted it.

Maybe it suits me more as I fly bush planes, GA and Bizjets. I don't have a need to post here but do keep up with what is happening. One big factor for me not using this forum much now is that Orbx have not moved to the Discord forums. That is where I spend my time now as I spend little time on a Windows format when I'm not simming. This makes Discord the ideal medium for me as I can browse wherever I am on either my iPhone or iPad.

I would say I'm not alone here and perhaps this may be the biggest reason for falling numbers in this forum.

    Time will tell. Cheers Anton.

Very minor thing: I have been invited to participate - and I thank you.

I downloaded the package and went to log in about 6 hours ago. I'm sure I never had a password? I then requested a reset.

It said an email would be sent but I can't find one in all the usual places :-) Keen to test.

Have you checked the email hasn’t gone to spam

Is anyone else suffering from the controls assignments disappearing overnight?  This is the second time I've fired up the sim and there are no joystick assignments now.  Very very frustrating.

Hi John, yes I have configured the controls for four planes so far and twice I have had to reconfigure them. Watching more closely I find that some things are save and some are not. The control surfaces are always saved, but the cockpit views are the ones I loose. I wonder if it has something to do with using the profile manager for individual profiles. For example I have one generic profile for my Rudders as they are the same for each plane, however after setting up my Stick and Throttle for the first plane (X-Cub), and saving, I later loaded the Bonanza G36 and immediately created a duplicate profile and modified the custom views to suit this plane. Ditto for two more planes.

Each new day and the custom views were lost, but not as I say - the control surfaces. I wonder if there is a bug for one thing I have noticed is that if I was using say the TBM and shut down and the next day I load the X-Cub and go and look at the control setup it is still showing the the profile for the TBM, whereas I would expect that it should be loaded with profile for the correct plane. I have mentioned this on the MSFS forums.

G'day Ben - you first need to update FTX-Central, then each airport will be it's own individual update. These have been rolled out exactly the same as a normal airport service pack.

    Cheers,

    Jarrad

More good work from orbx. I have a question Jarrad, I installed the airport updates before I saw the Central update, which I then ran. Would this still work ok?

I am just beginning to plan my next system build and hopefully it will all come together early in 2018.  At that point I plan on jumping over from FSX to P3dV4.x. Being a type of  'computer neat freak', I currently have copies of all of my FSX addons on a separate hard drive. ..........

There appear to be as many ways to install addons into P3DV4 as users, and I have not found any posts which concisely outline, step by step, how to get all addons to install into P3DV4 according to the one approved way (addon xml ?) so that when an update to P3D occurs it makes things easy without the need for any re-installs.  So,  if there a way of doing this,  could you please post a link to the method somewhere here.  I am sure this would be of great benefit to everyone in the sim community.

@MZee1960 Hi. I have been trying to figure this out for a couple of days now and just getting more confused. Interesting that no one has replied to you for more than four months. I can’t even find the scenery library option when I look at the P3D menus. The rest of P3D is great but add-on scenery configuration seems a mess.

  7. Hi Michal, yes - a distant one.  5 Generations ago in 1855 two Brothers left what was then Prussia, One my Great/Great Grandfather moved to Bendigo during the Victorian Gold rush.  The other Brother moved to Christchurch in NZ.  They came from the town of Sierakov.

    Cheers....

  9. My turn to introduce Myself

Nic: antonvs (not hard to work out)

    Name: Anton von Sierakowski

Yours truly viewing the beautiful Guy Fawkes River National Park and dreaming of what it would be like to fly the area (The heart of FTX AUGold).

Location: Home is in Bendigo, Vic AU (YBDG) but have been on an extended tour of our great country for a year now, currently in Devonport, Tas

I spent my working life in Industrial Electronics for Companies like Rank Xerox and BHP Billiton and later years were spent in IT, namely database maintenance.  I have had a passion for aviation since childhood.  I started PPL training at YMMB with Civic Flying School, but this was interrupted by a trip to Europe. Spent four years in the Air Training Cadets and later had the honour of teaching cadets in London (SW16) during a period I lived there in the seventies.  At a camp at RAF Manston I was enthrawled by the aerobatic skills of an ex RAF spitfire pilot (Bill) flying in a DHC-1 Chipmunk.  One other outstanding experiance I had was several days spent in a Cessna 172 in the company of a Mustering pilot in the Pilbara region on NW WA.  He would fly for as many as six hours swooping tree tops and into gourges with only brief 20min rests after making spectacular bush landings on sandy tracks.  At the end of every day spent with him, I swore I would never go up with him again, but by the next day I couldn't resist.  At the time He had over 5,500 hours of mustering time logged.  Truly amazing.

FSim History: Lets just say since the wire frame days. Ones I can remember are Ver 1, 5, 98, 2000, 2002, FSX. For some reason I missed FS9, I was doing other things for a while. But made up for lost ground with X.

Over the last year, while travelling with my partner we have travelled over 35,000Km and I have found FSX and FTX a fantastic means of seeking out new horizons before reaching an area and then reviewing the same area after we have visited it.  It is for this reason that I am limited to a notebook and a wireless gateway and also the reason that I am now stuck for getting FTX PNW as my plan is only 5Gb per month and we are not still long enough to have a DVD posted.  So you will only see screen shots from FTX AU for a while.

In addition to Australia, I also enjoy the European Alps aided by ...X.  A favourite circuit here is an oliptical circle in the valleys from Sion to lake Geneva and back.

As to aircraft viewing some of my screenshots will reveal some of my favorites :-

GA: All Carenado, Epic LT and now Victory VLJ, Flight 1 Cessna Mustang, A2A Cub with accupak (what fun) and now my absolute favorite Flight1 PC-12.  Truely amazing all rounder, fast, sleek, well equipped and just a great flyer.

Heavies: PMDG MD-11 and JS41, Wilco 737 PIC still slowly learning correct IFR procedures and FMC usage.

Rotary: Wilco Tilt Rotor and all time favourite rotary - R44 Raven II

So here's to the future of Flight Simming!!!

    Cheers....
