Test Pilot
Is anyone running an i7 920 on stock settings (no overclocking)? Obviously you get far far far (etc) better results running it above 3.0ghz (and seemingly safe to do so), but since I have never overclocked a CPU before Id be hesitant at first. Is an i7 still the way to go even if at stock settings?
caribou
Great queation, you took the words right out of my mouth! Also, would a I7 920 (not overclocked) be any better than a quad (Q something?) of the same speed? thanks Howard
jgutteri
Great question! I was also wondering this - and can't find any superpi 1M results for stock i7s online - only overclocked ones. Any reports much appreciated.
Tim Harris
heres a benchmark comparison http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/desktop-cpu-charts-q3-2008/benchmarks,31.html I looked very hard, and I think these figures are all non-OC

jgutteri
Yeah thanks very much - I'll be waiting with interest to see their Q1 '09 charts. I just also found this link, which may be of interest, though I don't know how accurate it is. It's good for raw comparisons I think. http://www.cpubenchmark.net/high_end_cpus.html

Here is a guide to overclocking this CPU.
