Difficulty with the Tasmania Demo

DRodders

Recommended Posts

I've been having difficulty in actually getting the demo to run. I've followed the instructions carefully, and it's installed on a clean install of FSX.

I've tried to take pictures to match it up with the manual photo (included at the bottom for reference)

I've checked that it's 'on'. However, when I tried to turn it off and on again, this error occurred.

Any help is appreciated!

Edit: It's probably worth mentioning that I'm running Windows 8.1

do you have fsX with SP1+SP2 or the Acceleration pack installed ?

do you have Administrator rights ?

do you have excluded your fsX install from continuous scanning by the Anti Virus program ?

did you install the sceneries by right clicking the .exe and select to "Run as Administrator" ?

does your fsX install reside on it's own drive or is it in it's basic location under programs on the C drive ?

most likely the files are write protected, rightclick the main fsX folder and under properties untick the read only box, it will apply for all files within the fsX folder

also have a look at take ownership => http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc753659.aspx

reinstall fsx to c:\fsx its an issue with win7 and 8 to much security on teh default location, preferably put it on its own partition or own drive.. If its a clean insatll just move the fsx folder and use the pathfix too for fsx to point to the new folder. This is a common issue.
