5055100597
So I'm in Barra (EGPR), and the problem is this big hill next to the airport has a hole in it. You can see through said hill to the terrain behind it. Also, the same island and surrounding islands also suffer from the ocean sitting on top of various elevated areas. [ORDER NUMBER: FSS0218014] Hope I can get some help, thanks.
Alex Goff
It looks like your terrain.cfg may have become corrupted. To fix that, first back up the main copy of your terrain.cfg which is found in the root FSX folder. Then navigate to "Microsoft Flight Simulator X\ORBX\Scripts\FTXCentral\Work" and locate the backup of the terrain.cfg there. Copy this backup in your root FSX folder, after that run FTX Central and switch between each region, including Global, hitting apply each time. This will reinsert the correct entries into your terrain.cfg. Note if you have any other products that insert lines into the terrain.cfg (Ultimate Terrain, GEX, etc.) those will need to be re-run to reinsert their entries. 5055100597
I did exactly as you said, and it is still happening. It affects all the Western Isles, as well as areas around Edinbugh (the only places I've so far visited). These are after results:
5055100597
I am continuing to have these problems after following these instructions. It happens both in the islands and around Edinburgh, from what I've looked at so far.
5055100597
I am still encountering these problems after following the above steps several times. (fourth time trying to post a response!!!!!!!!!!)
Alex Goff
Ok, in that case it looks like FSX is missing the textures for a landclass. Try reinstalling Scotland, no need to uninstall it. That should place the textures back where they belong.
Alex Goff
New solution, hold off on reinstalling anything: Open up your terrain.cfg file and locate the entry "ORBX_GOLF_COURSE_AND_DESERT=81" and change it to "ORBX_FIELDS_AND_WINDBREAKS_NW-SE=81". Make sure to back up your terrain.cfg beforehand.
