Raf
Hello everyone, I would like to make a few question on my pc, I installed Windows 7 and FSX and would like to purchase additional packages Orbx and libraries to improve the whole look and feel of the simulator. I state that I already have FS GLOBAL, REX 2, UTX, GEX, but after formatted my pc, these I have not yet installed. So, I ask you, what packages I can buy and if you can give me the sequence of installation in mind also of my packages already in my possession. Waiting for your feedback, thank you in advance. Matt McGee
Hi Raf, The Orbx "Definitive Guide to FTX Products" is in this thread: http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/74345-the-definitive-guide-to-ftx-products-the-go-to-source-of-ftx-information/ I highly recommend reading through it. It talks about the layers of FSX scenery and what Orbx products correspond to what layer (or layers). If you want to build up the layers of global coverage, start with the "Global" product line, Global Base, Global Vector, and openLC areas as they are released. You already have FS Global for mesh. REX weather will work too. (I don't have UTX or GEX, but the Compatibility Forum will have info on what works with Orbx.) The guide explains how FTX Terrain Regions are different from the Global Base/Vector/openLC products. Note, the Orbx payware airports are designed to be used on top of FTX Terrain Regions, NOT Global. There is a continuing series of Orbx free airports for Global, but they are nowhere near the level of detail as the payware airports. Hope that helps a little. I'm sure others will chime in too. Cheers, Matt
Raf
Hi Matt, first of all I want to thank you for reply. I want to tell you that I also have formatted my pc and now I have installed only FS GLOBAL and the two patches 1.0 and 1.2. Now I would like to know if I can install UTX and FS GLOBAL 2010 (but FS GLOBAL 2010 is not compatible version of FTX, but it is the older version of what you can buy on Fligth Sim Store). Thank you very much!
Matt McGee
now I have installed only FS GLOBAL and the two patches 1.0 and 1.2. Ciao Raf I assume you meant that you have FTX Global Base Pack 1.0 and 1.2 installed (not "FS Global" 2010). I don't have FS Global 2010 or UTX, but users in this thread said that the original FS Global 2010 works with FTX Global Base Pack: http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/75100-do-i-need-pilots-fs-global-2010-ftx-compatible/?hl=%2Bfs+%2B2010 There are many opinions on FS Global 2010 (& the FTX compatible version). It improves the mesh layer, but also causes some mesh errors and airport plateaus. There is a lengthy discussion here: http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/74972-should-i-buy-and-install-fs-global-2010-ftx-mesh/?hl=%2Bfs+%2B2010 I did a quick search but didn't find any discussion of UTX compatibility with Orbx/FTX. I suggest posting a question in the FTX Compatibility Forum where an Orbx staff member may answer your question faster. http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/forum/80-ftx-compatibility-forum/ You will need to add your Orbx product order number to your signature. http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/1157-important-notice-please-add-your-order-to-your-sig-for-support/ Many forum members also list their Orbx product names and computer specs as it can help with troubleshooting, but it isn't required. GEX is not compatible with FTX Global Base since they do the same thing, replace the default FSX texture files. Sorry I can't help more on UTX, I'm not ORBX staff, just a user. I'd post "Is UTX compatible with FTX Global?" in the FTX Compatibility Forum. Cheers, Matt
