Hangar200
Greetings All, Ran into the pesky FTX Exception Error again last night. Fixed it by searching this forum and finding a similar problem . . . or rather a plethora of Exception Error problems but only one like mine. The initial error: Followed by: The debug data is included below. The last time I had this error I "fixed" it by reloading NZNI. Not wanting to do that again I found a post where Wolter suggested taking user control of the offending folder using the directions spelled out here: Which finally worked. (Thanks Wolter! )My question is what could have possibly caused that error? I have UAC off. I am the administrator. I hand,t touched FTX since I changed scenery areas a week ago. I'm running Windows 7 64 bit. The only thing I can think of was a recent Windows update. Thoughts?------------- Error Debug Data -----------See the end of this message for details on invokingjust-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.************** Exception Text **************System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Scenery\World\Texture\002c2m11.bmp' is denied.at System.IO.__Error.WinIOError(Int32 errorCode, String maybeFullPath)at System.IO.FileStream.Init(String path, FileMode mode, FileAccess access, Int32 rights, Boolean useRights, FileShare share, Int32 bufferSize, FileOptions options, SECURITY_ATTRIBUTES secAttrs, String msgPath, Boolean bFromProxy)at System.IO.FileStream..ctor(String path, FileMode mode, FileAccess access, FileShare share, Int32 bufferSize, FileOptions options, String msgPath, Boolean bFromProxy)at System.IO.FileStream..ctor(String path, FileMode mode, FileAccess access, FileShare share, Int32 bufferSize)at System.IO.File.OpenFile(String path, FileAccess access, SafeFileHandle& handle)at System.IO.File.SetLastWriteTimeUtc(String path, DateTime lastWriteTimeUtc)at System.IO.File.SetLastWriteTime(String path, DateTime lastWriteTime)at FTXCentral.FTX_Environment.UpdateDummyFiles()at FTXCentral.FTX_Environment..ctor(FilesBase FilePaths)at FTXCentral.PublicDefs.InitFTXEnv()at FTXCentral.FTXC.InitSystem()at FTXCentral.FTXC.InitAll()at FTXCentral.FTXC.Timer1_Tick(Object sender, EventArgs e)at System.Windows.Forms.Timer.OnTick(EventArgs e)at System.Windows.Forms.Timer.TimerNativeWindow.WndProc(Message& m)at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam)************** Loaded Assemblies **************mscorlibAssembly Version: 2.0.0.0Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.5472 (Win7SP1GDR.050727-5400)----------------------------------------FTXCentralAssembly Version: 1.0.2.9Win32 Version: 1.0.2.9----------------------------------------Microsoft.VisualBasicAssembly Version: 8.0.0.0Win32 Version: 8.0.50727.5420 (Win7SP1.050727-5400)----------------------------------------SystemAssembly Version: 2.0.0.0Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.5467 (Win7SP1GDR.050727-5400)----------------------------------------System.Windows.FormsAssembly Version: 2.0.0.0Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.5468 (Win7SP1GDR.050727-5400)----------------------------------------System.DrawingAssembly Version: 2.0.0.0Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.5467 (Win7SP1GDR.050727-5400)----------------------------------------System.Runtime.RemotingAssembly Version: 2.0.0.0Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.5420 (Win7SP1.050727-5400)----------------------------------------System.ConfigurationAssembly Version: 2.0.0.0Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.5476 (Win7SP1GDR.050727-5400)----------------------------------------System.XmlAssembly Version: 2.0.0.0Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.5476 (Win7SP1GDR.050727-5400)----------------------------------------mtcqvoroAssembly Version: 1.0.2.9Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.5467 (Win7SP1GDR.050727-5400)----------------------------------------System.CoreAssembly Version: 3.5.0.0Win32 Version: 3.5.30729.5420 built by: Win7SP1----------------------------------------6_wgh0kyAssembly Version: 1.0.2.9Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.5467 (Win7SP1GDR.050727-5400)----------------------------------------************** JIT Debugging **************To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for thisapplication or computer (machine.config) must have thejitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section. The application must also be compiled with debuggingenabled. For example:<configuration><system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" /></configuration>When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exceptionwill be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computerrather than be handled by this dialog box. Tim Harris
Windows security updates are well known to change/reset folder permissions (for your safety of course!) this is why you should always install FSX in its own folder, and NOT in the default location...i.e the 'Program files x86' folder Cheers Tim
Hangar200
LOL! Yes, quite, "For our own safety" we wouldn't accidentally want to delete grandma's cookie recipe - much better that FTX gets flummoxed. [Expletive Deleted] MS! Now you tell me to put it in its own folder! I've been flight summing since the mid 1980's (yes, before MS Flight Simulator!) and never knew that. You learn something new every day. I'm thinking that a simple Cut/Paste move is not going to do the trick - that I would have to reinstall the whole kit & caboodle - probably too much to at this point but when its next time to do a full reload, that is what I shall do. Thanks for the advice and confirming that it was most likely the Windows update. Happy Holidays! Hangar
