Ryanm Posted October 26, 2013 Share Posted October 26, 2013 You can tune your comm to the ATIS (Automatic Terminal Information Service). This details the current weather and operational information including the runways in use. Unfortunately, you will only find this at airfields that have an ATC service. In the real world you have a general idea of what you can expect at the other end based on the information you have. But conditions can and do change. It's actually in our Operations Manual that we are not to brief an approach until we are assigned it by ATC. (Expectation bias it's called).
