BizzyB
I have just done yet another re-instal of FSX and, so far, just FTX AU (from DVD). However, when I click on "Run FTX Central" I get the usual, dreaded, "Unhandled exception" except that this time the problem is quite clear: "Cannot find path C:\Flightsim\Microsoft Flight Simulator". After I installed FSX (it would only instal to C:\Program Files(x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X), I moved it to C:\Flightsim, then corrected the registry entries so that they pointed there. When FTX_AU SP3 installed from the DVD, it said it was installing to C:\Flightsim\Microsoft Flight Simulator X (note the X !) so I presume that is the problem. How do I fix it ? Tim Harris
Try this tool David http://tweakfs.com/download/fsx_reg_utility.zip
BizzyB
Thanks Tim, for your prompt reply. That's what I used. After I'd finished, it said that the path in both HKEY_Current User and HKEY_Local_Machine was C:\Flightsim\Microsoft Flight Simulator X. (Are there any other paths ? ) I haven't run ORBXLIBs 130723 (? I don't have Global), or SP4, since I thought I needed to get FTXC running straight off. Tim Harris
Did you use the tab: "Set path"? you should only have to browse to and select the FSX folder, then hit the 'Set FSX path' button
BizzyB
Oops ! I read only the bit of the error message which showed straight off; what it really says is ' Could not find file 'C:\Flightsim\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Scenery\Global\Texture\veg_Broadleaf_ChestnutMaple_FA.dds'., which is a different kettle of fish And yes I did use the "Set path" button. Sorry about that.
Tim Harris
Could not find file 'C:\Flightsim\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Scenery\Global\Texture\veg_Broadleaf_ChestnutMaple_FA.dds' etc..etc..etc... This one is normally due to forgetting to install the 2 x servicepacks for FSX...... or Acceleration/GOLD

My version of FSX is Acceleration and I had appled a Service pack (don't remember which !); I'll check that again. Thanks
Tim Harris
Its Acceleration OR the 2 x servicepacks, not both C:\Flightsim\Microsoft Flight Simulator X Is this the actual location of the FSX folder? If it is and you have no issues with FSX-servicepacks/Acceleration then maybe something else is up, permissions perhaps, try running FTXcentral as 'an admin'
BizzyB
I ran SP4.002 again. It produced 35 errors, all .....au\vegetation, but a least Australia Applied (I haven't yet re-installed NZ (or NA))It's good enough for my present purpose. Thanks very much. BizzyB
I had made another boo boo - I have 2 copies of FSX, Deluxe and Gold with Acceleration. I had intended to instal Acceleration, but by mistake, did Deluxe, so that was probably another part of the problem; I'll try to replace it "later". Thanks again for your help.
