Martin Reiffer
When Shade (http://www.flightsimstore.com/product_info.php?products_id=1894) was recommended here on the forum as a replacement for or an addition to the EnbSeries mod (http://www.simforums.com/forums/enb-bloom-mod-nicks-config-updated_topic32482.html) I was more than happy because Enb had never been totally stable on my machine (probably due to the FSX.CFG highmem switch). However, even with the Ambient cloud lighting tweak (http://aussiex.org/forum/index.php?/topic/9790-ambient-cloud-lighting-tweak/) Shade had never been able to fully reproduce similar effects...at least until the FXAA tool (info and link: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/361065-fxaa-for-fsx/) was released. I have been fiddling around with the FXAA settings for quite some time now and this is a collection of screenshots above FTX EU ENG for comparison. I guess you can reproduce almost similar effects with FXAA only. Yet Shade's Ambicloud tweak will add even more realism. Please be aware that for FXAA to work you must disable Flight Simulator's internal Anti-Aliasing features and use those of the Nvidia driver instead. I do not offer any support for this but if you follow the links and read the instructions you should be able to replicate my settings. BTW, I have disabled all FXAA functions except for Bloom and Tonemap. Framerates are not affected by the tweak. IMHO Shade + FXAA create even more realistic FSX lighting than the EnbSeries although they work quite differently. See for yourself.
alan2
Interesting Ciderman . One thing , a problem for me , was just looking at the screenshots . It takes a couple of seconds or so to download one then having to download the next one . You need to swap them around to compare . Larger pictures would have done it - I can scroll up and down quickly . Anyway , good info . I am using enb and Shade . The biggest increase in realism I have had is the introduction of Opus . This has completely rewritten my sky/cloud structure . I am a bit weary of tweaking the sim though so I'll take note of this and visit some time in the future . My skys are generally quite good . Cheers
