Update server not working

I've been trying a number of times today to get the latest libraries and the update for 7S3 Stark's Twin Oaks without success. My location is Indiana USA. Twelve attempts at downloading (141 Mb of wasted bandwidth), cleared the dns cache, etc., and tried downloading via Firefox (v9.0.2) and also Download Accelerator (v10.0.3.0). Never had any trouble downloading until today. Guess I'll try again early tomorrow morning.

PS: Glad I found this before I start downloading SAK which I just purchased (Order # FSS0208377, Order Date: 2013-04-02).

Good morning all.

I also cannot access the patches. i have the same message as Triton (see posting above). I have done the flush the cookies + turn off and turn on thing to no success. I note that my fellow yella belly Mal said

Had the same problem a few days ago, the first Orbx Patch button wouldn't work, just used the bottom Orbx Cloud button, worked like a dream, no probs!

Please could you give me a bit more info about the "just used the bottom Orbx Cloud button"? Sorry to be obtuse I believe it comes free with acquiring grey hair.

Same for me I'm afraid. I've tried on both IE and Chrome with no success; I keep getting the same page as the OP.

I'll reboot my modem and give it another go.

*EDIT* Scrap that last comment of mine. Anfieldace had the solution; god bless the Cloud!

Unfortunately, the servers seem to be working ok, and I am not sure there is much we can do unless DNS server entries are fixed / updated.

Thanks Ian. Downloaded the libraries from the cloud and everything is fine. Still problems trying to download from myftx.com

It is unlikely to be BROWSER specific. Make sure you also reboot your computer as well as restarting the router, or flush its dns cache. Otherwise it will use the same old invalid entries.

This is, of course assuming that the DNS server you are using has the correct entries.

If someone is affected and feels so inclined they could reconfigure their DNS (eg to Telstra in Australia) and see if things improve.

This is what I have tried:

1) I went to this website

and followed the instructions to flush my dns cache.

2) I deleted temp internet files; cookies & website data; history; form data; and activeX filtering & tracking protection data by using the internet options within Windows Explorer.

3) I rebooted my computer at the same time I rebooted my router (leaving it turned off for 15 seconds).

4) Following your suggestion regarding download managers I used GetRight (I have a licenced copy). Below please find the report I took from the program having tried to download the PAKT patch.

Now I hope the above means something to you as it does not make much sense to me except to say that I cannot download one of the several updates I was hoping to do in the last couple of days.

Any further suggestions will be most helpful as I am also wanting to buy Milford Sound and Wales. I suspect that there may be other potential customers who are in the same postion as my self.

Also downloaded Internet download manager and tried to download the same patch as above. That program gave me the same "Bad Gateway" error message as GetRight did.

I accessed the Google servers at the top of your post on the above mentioned page, the patch downloaded in a second. I hope all this stuff is of some use? However unless I can buy product through the Google Servers you guys are not making any money :-(

The freeware server is completely separate from any other server anyway but the above information indicates a faulty DNS still, rebooting just the router will not help, reboot your modem/reset to factory default, sometimes using certain non automatic settings on router/modems can cause issues like this ( do a search on the Steam forums and you will see what I mean lol )

Thanks for coming back so quick. Good point re sales I was forgetting that I purchase through FlightSim Store. I can confirm that; I can download the demo; I have used the UK FSS/Orbx CDN server speed test under your sig. and downloaded the 1GB.zip in 4:40 mins so no probs there.

I have recently changed my ISP to cable which came with its own Hub and as you say tjhis looks like the area I need to concentrate my efforts. I have reset to factory default and guess what......it didn't work :-( This is not your problem and I thank you for your willingness to assist.

I have managed a partial resolve in using the Google server link but I could not see the following patches on that page: EuEng.002 ; NaCrm.001 ; and Pfj.003.

No sweat, I'll keep plugging away at my DNS problem and if I find a resolution I will come back and post it here for others to benefit.

Sorry I missed your post with looking at Jay Kae's advice. Thanks I have now found the cloud and downloaded some off the updates that I need. I hope you are doing alright in my home county, the locals can be a bit strange till they get to know you, (the first 20 years or so) after that your not such a newcomer. I spent a cracken three years in Liverpool where I quickly learned to say "I done nut'un!" whenever I was tapped on the shoulder. ;D

Ok, one of our UK team members has sent me a tracert, which has revealed to me what the issue is, just doing a few settings to the server to cope for the ISP issues (yes, not a server issue but UK DNS/ISP issue) and hopefully that will fix it, make sure you clear cache, temp files and cookies again :)

This is going to sound daft but I was in the third year of my degree course before I found out what the locals meant by the "bezzies". :lol: It was a drive through Toxteth that helped me decide my future career, in my case HMC&E, which sadly does not exist anymore. Oh well, I suppose I had better flush the cache and see if I can access the downloads. Keep em peeled ;)
