Hi all if anyone is interested in the reality XP Garmin 530 for the Orbx Lancair here is my install;-

Here's how I did mine;-

1. The edits to the Orbx Lancair Panel, Panel.DEF.CFG file ;-

2. Then in the Orbx Lancair Control panel select radio type to "Empty Radios", since you just edited the DEF cfg. This will swap the file over for you and you will have the Garmin 530.

This keeps the Orbx Stec autopilot and Stec gauge. Also has the ADF instead of the Lancair "Blanker". No need to use the RXP "N" pack either , unless you prefer it of course.

Folks bemoan that Orbx didn't include the 3d code for the XP radio's. IMHO the install I have doesn't look that much different to the Orbx panel, which is excellent already. ;D

Best Regards

David

Re my OP.

Just to be clear here are the full edits. There was an omission in the OP of the Radar Altimeter (sn3308).

So here is what is in my fully working Orbx Lancair with Garmin 530 and Orbx Stec guage and autopilot! :D

Hope this is of use to anyone like myself, who wanted to keep the Orbx Stec and just purchase the one XP 530 Garmin.

You could substitute the 430 for the 530 if you prefer that Garmin, its up to you.

Cheers.

David.

Hello guys,

In my now more considered opinion, by having tested the simulation fully. I just wanted to confirm that the above edit allows the XP Garmin 530, the Stec autopilot and Sandel SN308 to work together as expected.

You only need the XP Garmin 530 and no other guages (Which is an excellent product and comes with a "Trainer" for stand alone training!). Pricey, but its the same as in a RW aircraft, which is a boon.

Having now had the opportunity to fly both sims ( we know the other one which has 3d reality integration ), I conclude the Orbx is the superior product.

2 reasons....

Firstly, the HD graphics on the "Legacy" are blurry when you zoom in, particularly on the side panels which have paint lines. :-[ Not one reviewer mentioned that in all the reviews I read? The Orbx HD graphics are pin sharp all the way in and have "candy apple" type paint...Love that!

Secondly, on the "Legacy", the XP 3d integration fails when FS Recorder is used. :-[ So well done Orbx for sticking to your guns and keeping the 2d XP integration.

Minor points to some, but my preference is the Orbx Lancair iv-p. Just my opinion of course. But if it helps Orbx to do another aircraft sim then I will be a customer. ::)

Thanks again guys.

Best regards

David
