Catalina: Darrington to Orcas Island

Recommended Posts

As usual I couldn't just settle for one or two shots. I made over 30 screenshots on that trip, so condensing it to just 18 shots was already hard enough. ;)

This was a one hour trip, including bringing the somewhat delicate engines of the Cat to life and getting them to operating temperatures, and every second of it was fantastic.

Thank you.

...and congrat for your take off !!!

It wasn't a problem. The Catalina lifts off easily at 50-60 knots with those huge wings (a Cub could use them as a runway!) and there was plenty of room to spare between the runway and the mountain. ;)

*sigh* my favourite plane :D

Yeah, it's excellent! Beautiful, at least in my eyes, perfectly modelled, and the semi Accu-sim engine-modelling is always a challenge, especially with that variable carb heat that you need to keep within a narrow margin to keep the engines from stalling (too cold) or from providing too little power (too hot). I sorely neglected the Cat recently, that's why I simply had to roll her out of the hangar again.
