Here is my conifg for 2 430's.  I haven't done the 2d popup yet, but the VC works great!

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi, I was without internet for 2 weeks  :-[

I have installed your settings but get a FSX crash as soon as I load the aircraft. If I mark out the second GNS it loads with one. I wonder if I need a second licence for a 430 to run both with crossfill?. I'm not clear from what I read on the forum at RXP.

You'll need the Unlimited package next to the Garmin 430. This way you've got two licences and an 'extra' GNS 430. This is the only way to configure two units for crossfill capability. I've made a VH-LLW panel with RXP Garmins instead of the default ones. Works like a charm :)

Sure, no problem. Just make sure you edit the trainer path in the RXPGNS.INI file, because you'll probably have it installed in a different folder. I have swapped the audiopanel, both Garmins and the Stec AP with Reality XP units. In my own panel I also swapped the transponder and ADF with Friendly Panel units, but in the panel.cfg below I reversed this because you may not own the FP units.

First the PANEL.CFG:

I did some twin 430 installation too but I'm running into trouble with the RXP lightmap.

While the day installation looks fine, the night one gets the 530 overlay on the two 430 units leading to this view (in the VC, the popups work well).

Note the "highlighted" center area of the 430s and the not in place button lights. Those are 530 button lights.

This is a cause of this lightmap being used there, fitting the 530, not two 430s. The highlight is the grey area.

That's actually some dds texture format there.

Not a big deal for some graphic artists to tweak, but I'm limited in these aspects and didn't find a solution to the "misplaced" optics when using those two 430s so far.

Maybe Jarred can put out another lightmap for the 430 users because the rest of the plane, including the AP from Orbx, works nicely with the RXP units. Thumbsup for that!

So, the wishlist for SP1 may be enlarged with this lightmap thing.  :)

I was thinking about just using the default lightmap then, because the plane ships with two 430s as we all know. But the textures there fully cover the RXP units, night and day, so this rough solution wasn't a real one.

As said, I'm no guy for all the graphics stuff around, so I just can copy and paste files, not always leading to a suitable solution.  :-[

Thanks for pointing in the right direction there. The empty config really did the trick (as you've said in that thread) and illuminates the whole radio stack evenly.

I was scrolling through the RXP threads before, but I've missed that vital part to eventually get a nice looking 2x 430 config.

Great help, Bert.  :)

So my demand for an extra light map isn't valid anymore.
