New "Virtual" Mooney Pilots' Reading Suggestions

For those of us "virtual" pilots who have become enamored with the Carenado Mooney M20J (and Russ White's superb high definition cockpit), here are a couple of sources to read for more information about the aircraft.

"The Mooney Transition" by C.K. Haun.

Provides an excellent pilot's perspective of what makes a Mooney interesting and unique. (His is a turbo version, but otherwise very similar to the M20J.)

Mooney Aircraft Pilots Association.

See the excellent flight reports at the main website:

http://www.mooneypilots.com/

Particularly relevant is "Aircraft Evaluation Report: Test Flying the M20J"

http://www.mooneypilots.com/mapalog/M20J Evaluation/M20J_evaluation_report.HTML

For some savvy flying tips, see the Flight Ops section by Bob Kromer (former test pilot at Mooney):

http://www.mooneypilots.com/mapalog/powersettings.html

http://www.mooneypilots.com/mapalog/cruisepower.html

Perhaps you might have other sources to suggest?

Just for fun,

Mike

Thanks heaps for those links Mike, they make for good reading, especially the transitioning article and the "evaluation report".

Also worth checking out is the "Australian Mooney Pilots Association" website at www.mooney.org.au

They have an occasional newsletter (in .pdf format) which is a good read. There's also a classifieds section where you could pick up a nice used M20J, or perhaps a propeller for the pool room :D

I've also got a Mooney M20J checklist that I use in the real aircraft, which I made myself from experience and combination of instructors personal checklists (so no copyright issues). Not sure how best to post it. I could just do a cut and paste from my word document. If anyone's interested i'll put it up.

Steve.
