alexf
As the title says. I am not a hardware expert by any means. I always wondered why my quad i7 has eight grpahs instead of four? In my older laptop i see two graphs for a dual processor setup. I know I don't have 8 processors for FSX. Why the doubling?
Ian Routley
4 real cores, and 4 virtual cores. If you are overclocking (and particularly if you experience stutters) you should try turning off HT in the BIOS. This would give you 4 "real" cores ... and less chance of thread collision in programs with limited multicore support such as FSX
Spirit Flyer_old
Hi Alex, Your hyperthreading is turned on in your Bios. You have 4 cores plus 4 virtual cores equal 8 in the i7. For FSX the hyperthreading should be turned off. Kind regards,

alexf
I see. I do not have the GTX480 overclocked. How do you turn hyperthreading off? Do I have to reboot and get to a BIOS screen before full boot?

Gurdy
alexf ... It is easy to turn off the HT in your BIOS. Your MB manual will show you which screen you will find it on. Cheers
alfredmanning
I turned off hyperthreading for FSX in the fsx.cfg by adding these 2 lines: [JOBSCHEDULER] AffinityMask=
John York
Hm, I'm not sure that's possible Alfred. I would say its best and can only be done through the BIOS. The advantage is then that you can use the FSX cfg. Job Scheduler Affinity Mask tweak suitable for your equipment. For instance I use 14 for my i7-920 and 6GB RAM.
