martinc
Hi folks, Any body familiar with Mildura?. I'll be flying out of there a bit later tonight and i noticed what look like an old strip parallel to the main rw's. Anybody got a clue? Or is it just a funny bit of road ? Geoffman
I'm from Mildura in an earlier incarnation of my life ( I grew up there until I was about 15). During the WWII era Mildura was the home of 2FTS and my father did some of his training there, what you are seeing is most likely one of the small strips from when 2FTS was alive. Note looking at the latest google earth that old strip ain't there anymore. PS If you get a chance (I think it's still there) there is a bit of a warbird museum at the airport, if it's open go and have a look around they actually have a bit of my father's RAAF memorabilia that they asked me for. PPS as you approach from the SW you will see another set of unpaved strips which houses the local gliding club.
markwlee
It's just a piece of road on the LC tile poking out from under the default airport poly.
martinc
Yeah, I can see where the intersection would be in the top right corner of the tile.
Geoffman
I feel a bit dumb after Mark's explanation! But the history surrounding Mildura's airport housing 2FTS remains correct though.

Geoffman
Thanks Andrew, it's good to feeling that I'm not the inaugural or sole member of the club.
