You should never under estimate your location and it's surroundings... always plan ahead..

Started off all ok as we depart from Scar Creek BC

Taking in the breath taking panoramic views and winding roads on those mountains..... thought id turn this bird and take a look down that valley

....and suddenly find myself in a situation I could never get out of... Couldn't pull up without a stall and too tight to make a turn out of this mess

I've got bitten by this in the sim.  I read that a real-world emergency technique when trapped in a box

canyon is to lower the flaps while in a steep u  turn out --  tried it in the mountains south of CYCW and

it worked great in the Scout, but not sure if it wouldn't tear up the airframe in real life.

This happened to me out of Scar Creek as well in an amphibian Beaver, but I was just able to turn around with flaps and a stall warning (but no stall!). The poor Beaver was just running out of steam when I got near the end of the 'canyon'. I actually went to the outside view to make sure the wingtips cleared the rock. I went back down and turned for Dumbbell Lake and landed there for a breather. Feeling brave again, I took off from the lake and tried climbing (this time, successfully) Scimitar Glacier. Barely making it over the crest onto the icefield, the Beaver then zoomed down Franklin Glacier towards Knight Inlet. I swear I could hear the plane exhale when we got to Franklin Glacier!
