Mithrin
Yup another one of those thank you threads. I've been gaming a lot lately (mass effect and dragon age origins mainly + some shooters) and didn't do much flying at all. Orbx really is at the top of the fsx food chain though. I uninstalled my sim a while ago and really lost all interest. It was acting stupid and not playing smooth, thanks to the many many planes and too much scenery and other programs. But with the release of Concrete and Israels I just couldn't help myself and so I bought it and reinstalled the sim. Compared to the last five years or so where I would fly (mostly online) for an hour or two a day, I still don't fly much. Maybe once or twice a week. But hey, at least I've got the sim back up and all my Orbx (and OzX) stuff loaded. I only have a handful of planes in (almost all default are gone) and I've stripped all these planes of paintjobs I don't like. Did the whole defrag drill too during install. Now the sim runs better than ever and I get just great fps all around and acceptable fps over urban areas. I intend to keep it this way! I'm also only using Active Sky and X Graphics. Lower res means less sharp puffy clouds but I fly with real weather on so most of the time in PNW I get a nice haze and clouds touching the mountains. Under these circumstances the softer, lower rez clouds look a lot better and you don't really get those hard edges. At least that's my perception. So thanks Orbx for still keeping my fsx candle burning, if only barely! You guys rock! Some piccies.
