It belongs to the Windward Islands, a captivating group within the Society Islands, located just 17 kilometers (11 miles) northwest of Tahiti. The name itself carries a touch of magic: “Moʻoreʻa” originates from Tahitian, where “Moʻo” means “lizard” and “Reʻa” signifies “yellow.” Legend has it that a yellow lizard was abandoned by its parents and washed ashore on this enchanting island. Moorea is a land of stories, where lush tropical landscapes meet dramatic mountain peaks, palm-fringed bays, and turquoise lagoons. Imagine fragrant pineapple plantations, hidden waterfalls, and a gateway to Polynesian culture. It’s the little sister of nearby Tahiti, yet it holds its allure—a wonderland waiting to be explored.
