simonlongstaff
Hello I have recently ordered a new system with the following hard drives: 1.5TB 1500GB Western Digital Caviar Green WD15EARS SATA II 3.0Gb/s 64MB Cache 1 $125 128GB 2.5" Corsair Storage Solutions X128 SATA II Solid State Disk (SSD) I gather that FSX (and all associated programs) should be loaded onto the SSD. Am I right in thinking that the OS should go on to the WD Drive? Thanks for this (and any other) advice. Regards Simon
TenBlade
Yes, OS on the conventional drive, and FSX on the faster SSD.

Remko
Good timing - I'm going through the same thing here. Did I read somewhere there's a registry hack required to get FSX/FTX on a separate drive, and if so would someone be able to please direct me to that hack? Much appreciated! davenicoll
Hi Remko, No hack required.... On your dedicated FSX drive set up a folder called FSX.. Then when you install pick the customised option then when FSX asks you where to install point it to the folder on your dedicated drive and that's it...good to go.. Mine is on F:/FSX
Remko
Perfect - less hacking is good! Thanks Dave
TenBlade
What´s the deal with Win 7 creating a Program Files (x86) folder on your designated drive and putting FSX in there? Does that reduce performance in some way? Bjorn
