Black Textures on some aircraft at 2S1

Recommended Posts

Not sure if this is the right forum but I have a strange occurence at 2S1 where there are black textures.

I used the debug procedure by adding lines to [scenery] in the FSX.cfg per Anthony's instructions.

3 GUID errors and 4 textures not loading: DAB9276E-46E5-F44C-074C-25A800C9B023, B203C663-2EA2432F-8462-F08B7D97E654, 000BEB16-4B8C-8BDC-AFA4-E78611ED5CF2

SIERRA_001.BMP, TURBO ARROWIV_001.BMP, PA28_001.BMP, C172_N944LAQ.BMP

Any ideas why this is happening?

This is not a problem report, but just a comment that this is a very nice  extra scenery for this little island, we have friends that live there, and we have visited this airport, so fun to cruise over!!!  Haven't seen the airshow yet, but have it checked off, so maybe one of these dayss I will be there to see what happens......................thanks, Dick Leonard

Ian,

If you are interested I have found a work around solution.

I installed the "KB Static Aircraft Library" which has supplied the .bmp files.

This does not solve why a .bmp call was made rather than the .dds textures present in the folder but just thought you'd like to know.

Yes, it is an old topic. But to keep the continuity I used the same original thread.

I have had the black textures on some aircraft at 2s1 with 2 new fresh installations now.

This is an update and details on a current solution brought by ramsa329.

Indeed, if you load up the scenery with the debug lines, I found that there were 9 guid's unanswered for:

dab9276e-46e5-f44c-074c-25a800c9b023

b203c663-2ea2-4b2f-8463-f08b7d97e654

87b239a2-4abb-4a5b-8246-f35c23a83925b

I don't have a solution for that and I can't correlate the GUID's with those that are listed in the FTX lib. They are not all available to be seen in a .txt file.

Version 1.1 of 2s1 does not correct that either. uninstalled, deleted and re-installed twice with the same black textures.

Ramsa329 had the solution, you just had to find how to apply it.

So here it is:

1. you download the `kb static aircraft library` available here:

http://www.kb-sim.com/screens_static_aircraft.html

On my setup, there were 5 a/c with black textures: Pa28_001.bmp; C172_N944LA.bmp; Sierra_001.bmp; F33_001.bmp and TurboArrowIV_001.bmp

I took those 5 bmp's and copied them over to the main FSX textures folder.

That is it, you will get your textures back.

It is possible that for different setups, the missing textures will be different. So here are the debug lines that should be added (and deleted or commented out after use) to the 'SCENERY' folder of FSX.cfg:

ShowMissingTextureAlert=1

MissingLibraryAlert=1

So when you start FSX and go to 2S1, those lines will tell you which GUID's and Textures are missing.

Again, this is an old thread come alive. But I think it is worth it, because the scenery is beautifully designed and fits so well in the PNW.

So, hopefully that will still be useful to someone out there who can not stand to have black textures in a perfect scenery.

2S1 black textures Part II

Here I am again with a new install of FSX and with the same problem of 5 a/c at 2S1 with black textures.

Solution is as above with a new link: http://www.kb-sim.com/screens_static_aircraft.html

Do not forget to choose the FS9 files as listed above.

And I can confirm it works again. (the whole file is not saved and backedup with instructions)

Why is it not corrected? I dunno.

Pierre

And by the way the 2S1 patch does not correct the black textures.
