You need a little more for other things that are running (like Windows itself for example) Not sure if Win7 32bit suffers from OOM errors the same way Vista and XP used to with FSX ... but this is the only theoretical benefit there from a 64bit O/S with > 3.5Gb RAM The real reason to use 6gb is so you can run DDR3 in triple channel mode (3 x 2 Gb).
