Andreas737
I have a similar problem to that in http://orbxsystems.com/forums/index.php?topic=10576.0, I want to install the program to my FSX folder but it doesn't give me any options, I can only download it to my program files. What can I do to fix this?
Tim Harris
Hello If your FSX is not installed in the default location, you may need to run the FSX registry fixer tool http://fullterrain.com/hotfixes_patches/FSX_Registry_Fix.zip Cheers Tim
Andreas737
Well my FSX folder is located under C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X and the ORBX is C:\Program Files\ORBX so I think it's right.
Tim Harris
Did you run the reg tool? after you run it, delete the ORBX folder in your main C: drive, and try re-installing again Cheers Tim
Andreas737
I ran the reg tool and it says "registry updated" but when I try to delete the ORBX folder It says "You need permission to perform this action". Without it deleted, I tried re-installing it but still I had no choice which folder to download it to.
Tim Harris
What OS are you using?, if its vista/win7 you will need to turn UAC OFF, and run the installer "as admin"

Andreas737
I turned UAC OFF, and deleted the folder. It didn't work!
Tim Harris
If after all that, the installer is still not finding your FSX install, then something is still wrong with your Registry perhaps try another reg tool: http://tweakfs.com/download/fsx_reg_utility.zip
Andreas737
But I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do with the registry thing.
Tim Harris
You will need to run the reg tool, and manually point it towards your main FSX folder I.e C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X Normally there are only a few reasons the installer is not finding your installation including: you either did not install FSX from the original DVDs or have moved the FSX folder to another drive, and therefor do not have the relevant Registry entry's The 2 Tools I linked you to will be able to fix this, there is also a very informative read-me included with the second tool that explains the process once the tool has run, delete the erroneous ORBX folders you have installed, do a reboot of windows, and then proceed to install the demo (with UAC OFF, and right clicking the installer and forcing it to run in "admin mode" ) Cheers Tim
