reveriejz255
Trying to install Australia SP4 on DVD to a laptop running Vista SP2. When trying to run setup, ROM drive has a difficult time reading (read head seems to be shuttling rapidly back and forth without result). Disc is clean and pristine. Is the disc corrupted, is it a problem with Vista, should I just buy another?
petfy
Don't run setup. Insert disk, prevent autostart (hold shift down in Win 7). Open root folder of disk. Can you see files/folders or is there head problems. If you can see the files/ folders try to transfer them to the hard drive. If successful, install from hard drive. If you cant you may have a corrupted disc (session not closed, bent disc, bad image [pirated] etc) or disc not centered on spindle, or hardware fault. reveriejz255
Worked a treat. Transferred files to hard drive and ran setup from there. Puzzled as to why but happy with result.
